The menstrual cycle of a woman has three phases, during which certain changes occur with the organism. I will stop the attention on the shortest of them - ovulation.
What is ovulation? Explaining accessible languages
Each girl gets at birth about a million egg cell. By the period of puberty, they are much smaller, and completely ripen and can be fertilized over the entire root portion only to 500 eggs.
For one menstrual cycle, only one egg generation is formed to the end, although several of them begin to grow in parallel. Ovulation is called the period on which:
- the release of the egg from the follicle,
- her brief "life"
- the process of death of the egg.
By time, this whole process lasts 12-36 hours.
What is ovulation? Biological process in the body of a woman
To fully understand what kind of ovulation we turn to physiology and the biological process, which occurs in the body of a woman.
- Initially, the hypophysis produces the so-called sex hormones that awaken up to 15 "sleeping" in the ovaries of the egg. All of them begin to grow and develop, but after 7-10 days one of the eggs dominates (it is stronger and more). It is she who continues its development further to full ripening.
- When the egg cell is completely formed, the period of ovulation begins.
- The follicle in which the egg grows, shoves, releasing it outwards.
- Next, moving in the uterine pipes, the egg is moving into the uterus cavity, where fertilization is waiting for some time and dies if the spermatozoic does not appear.
Ovulation and pregnancy
Everyone knows the fact that it is at the time of ovulation there is the largest percentage of the child's conception. If at the time of ovulation in the female body will be an active spermatozoa, then the conception will be held in 8 out of 10 cases. After fertilization, the egg is attached to one of the uterus walls and the embryo is beginning to develop. With this outcome, the woman will not see menstruation in the next 9-18 months.
What should pay attention to.
- Guessing the ovulation time is quite difficult, so there are special ways to determine it (calendar, ultrasound, special tests).
- Since ovulation is a very short process, it is not always possible to have to have sex during this period (the process has begun at work, there is no number of sexual partner).
- It is necessary to take into account the fact that spermatozoa can live in the body of a woman to two days, so sexual intercourse, which took place to ovulation in 1-2 days, may well lead to pregnancy.
- There are "idle" menstrual cycles when the egg does not ripen. Usually it begins to occur after 35 years, when the woman's body begins to fade.
Ovulation in numbers
Now having a concept that such ovulation is explained when it happens. Usually menstrual cycle is 24-36 days. Of these, 3-7 days fall on the blood discharge themselves. The rest of the days are divided into three phases:
- follicular when the egg aging in the follicle. This is the first 7-12 days of the menstrual cycle;
- ovulation - the egg is coming out of the follicle, moves into the uterus cavity and there fertilizes or dies. As already written, the whole process is individual and lasts from 12 to 36 hours;
- luteinova - begins after the death of the egg. During this period, the shell in which the egg cell is regressing, and the upper layer of the endometrium uterus (the egg is attached after fertilization) is rejected. In consequence, these rejected particles exit in the form of blood discharge and are called menstruation. This phase lasts about 14 days.
It turns out that ovulation, on average, falls on the middle of the cycle. Therefore, those women who want to get pregnant, favorable to have sex will be 12-18 days from the end of blood secretions.
