How to pour the foundation for the garage

Despite the small garage dimensions, it must have a reliable and solid foundation. In this article, we will gradually consider how to make a high-quality foundation that can serve automotive dwellings as long as possible.

Preliminary stage. Before proceeding with construction, conduct a study of the Earth where you are going to build a garage. This procedure will help determine the correct depth of the foundation laying. It is preferable to entrust the execution of this stage to those skilled in the art, but if desired, you can cope and independently. Check out the information below:

Gravel. The depth of the base should be not lower than the drainage depth.
Sand soil. The depth of the base is 40-70 cm.
Peat. On this basis, construction is prohibited, but there is a solution to remove a peat layer (to the mineral base) and fall asleep sand or gravel.
Rock soil. It requires a lot of effort for processing, but allows you to build a base without digging the trench.
Clay. The depth of the base must be below the drainage depth.
Soup. The depth of the base is at least 2 m.

Shooting trench. Follow the plan for the planning building on the land plot. You will need stakes, rope and roulette. Wheel at the corners of the future facing the stake. Stretch a rope between them to the height of creating the base. After that, take the roulette and check whether all the parties were equal. Remember that the width of the base should be larger than the width of the walls of the structure by about 20 cm. Based on the type of soil, haul the trench with the required depth. Then put it off her layer of sand at 5 cm, then rubble - 10 cm. Each layer is well sinking.

Creating a formwork. Removable formwork is the most popular way to build a foundation. It is a special box that acts as a base for filling with concrete. When the solution freezes, the formwork must be removed. It is created from wooden boards, which must be tightly attached to each other, in order to avoid the leakage of the solution. Installing fittings. At this stage you will need iron bars with a thickness of 10-12 mm. It is necessary to make the grid. To do this, along the entire length of the trench, put two rods 5 cm above its bottom. Also make sure that the rods are at a distance of 5 cm from the formwork. Alternate them, put short rods at a distance of 40-50 cm from each other. Maintaining the mesh can be performed using a wire or welding method. Then attach the vertical rods and connect short with them. So you get the grille.

Pouring concrete. You can prepare a solution from concrete yourself or use the factory product. If you are closer to the first option, mix the sand, rubble and cement in the 3: 5: 1 ratio. Dilute these components with water to optimal consistency. Perform the fill with layers, 20-30 cm. After the first layer is frozen, you can pour the next one. Each layer must be pressed with wooden traamies. This will allow preventing emptiness. When everything is ready, create a waterproofing layer using the runneroid and remove the formwork. After the fill, protect the foundation from the fall of various atmospheric precipitation and sun rays. Cover the finished base with a dense tissue, chore or burlap. In the summer, do not forget to periodically irrigate the cloth with water. During rains, cover the basis of waterproofing material.

Please note that the concrete will be glanced for quite a long time, so it is recommended to create a foundation a few months before building walls. This will allow him to strengthen well and subsequently withstand the load of the entire structure. If you adhere to all the rules described above, the basis will be sustainable and durable.
