How to plaster foam

Polyfoam is a rather popular insulation used for thermal insulation of the premises. By virtue of its fragility, this material requires protection against mechanical effects, ultraviolet and temperature differences. The optimal coating for foam plates is shuttering having certain subtleties.

1
Foam plaster is recommended immediately after its installation. The paper uses mixtures for polystyrene-based materials from proven manufacturers (ecomix or "phrases"), the consumption of which is an average of 5 kg / m². Mandatory condition - the use of the reinforcing mesh, resistant to the effects of an alkaline medium. The reinforcement can be of different density, but the practice shows that the plaster falls better on a more dense fiberglass.

2
The working solution is prepared according to the instructions specified on the bag. At first, a plaster grid with strips of 30-40 cm stripes are pasted on the slope and the angles. For this, a spatula is superimposed about 3 mm mixture, a piece of the mesh is pressed and smoothed from the angle to the sides. In this case, it is necessary to leave the non-adhesive ends (5-10 cm) - for the execution of the joints. In the same way, wide bands are attached, completely pressing the grid in the plaster.

3
The glued grid should dry, in hot time it occurs in 3-4 hours, and in cold weather during the day. Next, the surface is maintained by circular motions of a plastic cooler, with attached sandpaper. The leveling layer is superimposed by sites, their borders should not coincide with the joints of the grids.

4
Now the finishing layer is performed: a solution with a thickness of 3mm is applied with a wide spatula, the time is given to dry, then grouts until the formation of the maximum flat plane. The next step of finishing work will be the primer of the surface.

5
The choice of a particular means depends on the type of decorative coating. In the case of the subsequent overlay of the facade plaster, a grainy primer is used (for example, Ceresit CT 16), and Ceresit CT 17 is suitable for painting. Decorative plaster is applied with a base layer, then a texture is formed with a spatula or sponge.

In the process of imposing plaster on the foam, there are no special difficulties, adhering to the considered rules and taking patience, work is carried out with their own hands. On the example of applying the plaster, the croroede shown in the video can be visible to get acquainted with the technique of finishing finish.
