How to insulate slopes

How to insulate slopes

By replacing the wooden windows that came into disrete to new, made from the PVC profile, often the hosts noted that cold is still going from the window slots. There may even be mold around the same design due to increased humidity, which is observed due to the depressurization of the mounting seams. All this is pretty spoils the comfort of accommodation in the room. To improve the situation, it is customary to warm the slopes of windows.

1
Prepare a set of such materials before the insulation of the PVC windows:

  1. Sealant on silicone basis;
  2. Frost-resistant mounting foam;
  3. Glue;
  4. Special plasterboard - gyrox;
  5. Thermal insulation material;
  6. PVC profile;
  7. Sandwich panels.

To work, you will need a saw-hacksaw, with the help of which the plasterboard is cut, and the paint knife.

2
The thermal insulation material that is suitable for insulation is made to determine, depending on the width that the gap reaches. With a value of 40 mm and more use extruded foam or polystyrene foam, which has a thickness of 2-3 mm. You can also use fiberglass eros. In other cases, the choice can be stopped on a mineral wool or even a mounting foam.

There are such technologies for improving the thermal insulation of plastic windows: insulation of surfaces adjacent to the windows outside, and insulation from the inside. Consider for the beginning, how there is thermal insulation of PVC windows outside:

  • At the first stage, carefully prepare the slope, clearing it from dirt, dust, paint spots. If there are protrusions or recesses on the surface, they should be eliminated. Find the primer on the plane.
  • We proceed to sticking the heat-insulating material, pre-measuring the slope of the roulette and cutting the insulation with the help of a hacksaw. Glue material to slope with a special composition. Warm the entire surface around the perimeter, and not just separate problem areas. You can also use liquid nails. After mounting the insulation, it must be fixed with a dowel of plastic.
  • The next thing you need to do is to establish corners made of metal. They are fixed throughout the perimeter of the slope, using a special adhesive solution.
  • Now you can enjoy the reinforcement of the surface, since without this, the cracks may appear in the slopes. Apply adhesive mortar on the heat insulation material and stir up the glass.
  • As a finishing material, it is customary to use plaster or water-emulsion paint.

Important: To achieve better external heat insulation, carry out work immediately after the window unit was installed.

For insulation of slopes from within a drywall and any thermal insulation material suitable for windows, for example, Minvatu:

  1. To begin with, it is necessary to blew the mounting foam, not greeding, all open areas that remained after mounting the window block - gaps and cavities. Wait until she dries, and remove her surplus using a paint knife. If the foam did not get into some places, make them sealant.
  2. Next should be attached to the insulation to the rough base, be it minvat or foam. You can fix with liquid nails.
  3. At the next stage, it is necessary to cut down the plasterboard and attach it, adding the heat-insulating material as dense as possible to avoid the formation of slots and various defects. Dowels or screws are used as fasteners.
  4. Decorative finish. Here, everything is similar to the decoration trim when they are insulated outside. Plastering the surface or coating paint.

The insulation of slopes is a simple procedure, but the benefit from it will be much larger than you can imagine. You will get rid of the bridges of the cold and drafts, increase the noise insulation. And, in addition, having familiarized with our instructions, you can do the work independently.
