How to make a countertop of artificial stone

We purchase materials for the product: directly artificial stone, special glue for working with stone, mounting corners, screws, for the base, you need to purchase moisture-resistant plywood or chipboard, material for docking seams (liquid nails or silicone, acrylic, PVA glue), clamps. Be sure to need a mill or hand-saw with a guide, one-stage, jigsaw, drill, screwdriver, cutters, whitespirite or acetone, clamps.

Align the edges using a mill or saw. Cut off the thin strip for the edge of 35-37 mm in size and the closed plinth (size depends on the product, from 30 mm). For these purposes, you will need a saw with a disc. If irregularities turned out, we exhaust them with a mill.

We make a template of the future product and on it cut a sheet. It is necessary to leave the stock of 5 mm. Since the standard tabletop is 600 mm wide, we will need 605 mm.

Crepe on the inside of the sheet to the plate for the cutter in the place where the edge should be. Previously need to make a furrow for the edge in 2 mm using a millingrer, remove dust and degrease the surface.

Put a number of clamps. Their quantity is easy: one after every 10 cm. Mix the glue with the hardener (it can be done right on the rag) before receiving a homogeneous mass, otherwise the seams may dispense. Printed on a thick layer of glue edge into a furrow, pinning with clamps. If suddenly the empties were formed, they should also be pledged to the mixture. Full drying will be in 20 minutes.

Clean adhesive from speaking the inner corner of the product, stick to the plywood on the perimeter, forming a frame. The distance from the strip edge to approximately 2 mm. It is covered with silicone to prevent water ingress and other things. Paste transverse strips of plywood and fix using clamps. Leave to dry for 7 hours, and if the room is cool, it may take longer. Round off the edges with the help of the cutter, the size of which you choose to your taste. Polish and shlifuete surface.

Secure the corners of the product itself, and directly on the furniture frame.

This way you can make a straight tabletop. If you want to get the product to the bends or U-shaped, it is better to turn to professionals, so as not to spoil the material errors in its work.
