How the snails breed

How the snails breed

All living things on our planet are capable of breeding. The representative of Mollusks is no exception - a snail. The propagation of them is of two types and has many interesting and unusual details for this type.

1
How the snails propagate in nature

Achatins multiply no more than once a year. When they are ready to mate, their behavior is changing. This is manifested in the fact that they become more slow, more often stop and freeze. When two individuals, ready to mate, meet, then they begin the process of “courtship”. It consists in the fact that the snails begin to sway from side to side, then they stretch up and touch each other with the soles. Then the Achatins begin to feel a partner with tentacles. After a certain time, the “courtship” process stops, and the snails are pressed by the soles, so they spend about 30 minutes in this form. Such a game can last another 2 hours, after the mating process itself occurs.

There are two versions. The first indicates that during mating snails crossly fertilizes each other. During which they let the lime needles into the partner’s body. The second that is a clear distribution on the male and the female.
The mating process usually takes different time, it all depends on the type of snail, so it can pass from several hours to a couple of minutes (grape snails).

Egg laying is carried out in an earthen fossa or in a different safe place (under the stem of the plant). Most often, the number of eggs varies from 30 to 40, white. After the eggs are laid, the gastropods fall asleep. After three weeks, the cities of the snails hatch, but they do not immediately leave their shelter.

Types of snails are distinguished, which are vibrants, i.e. They do not lay eggs. These include a giant African snail, a sandstone melania.
Note that during propagation, one third of the snails dies.

2
How the snails propagate in the aquarium

In aquarium snails, the propagation process is also quite interesting. So this type has a long breathing tube, with which they breathe oxygen under water and do not rise to the surface. The ampoulers differ from their counterparts in that they are not hermaphrodites, they are heterosexual creatures. But to understand where the female or the male will still fail.

The process of mating in the ampularia occurs in water, but the eggs are deposited in the air, for example, on the walls of the aquarium. But the individual itself outside the aquarium will die, so you should follow it, do not allow it to crawl out of it.
Before laying the eggs, the snail has long been looking for a suitable place, when she finds it, she begins to throw caviar in the form of a vine. Three weeks later, like land snails, ampoulers are born, which are fixed from the wall of the aquarium and fall into the water.

3) Reproduction snails for business

One of the popular areas is a restaurant business. As we know, certain types of snails are eaten and are an expensive delicacy. Getting the right number of snails in a natural environment is not easy. Therefore, special "farms" appeared on the cultivation and reproduction of snails. To develop such "farms" had to make a lot of effort: the reconstruction of the climate, the environment of close natural, the selection of individuals for reproduction. In the established system, the reproduction in snails occurs in a short time, and the number of surviving individuals increased after propagation.
