How to change the name of the child

Sometimes there is a need to change the child name. Causes can be completely different: Inattention of the registry office (LCD), assets of astrologers, couples, other. You can always change the name to the child, regardless of its age, only for this you will need to work a little, collect a package of documents.

1
If you want to change the name of the baby, who was recently born (a few months ago), for this you do not have to make great efforts. It is necessary to contact the registry office at the place of birth of a child (or at the place of residence) and write a relevant statement (about changing the name of the child). A photocopy of the passports of parents of parents should be attached to this statement (they will have to notarize them) and the receipt of the payment of state duty for changing the name (this is about 500 rubles, the amount periodically changes upwards). If in fact a child brings up one parent, the consent of the second parent will be required (if it is recognized as incapable, then the consent of the guardianship and guardianship bodies). Also legal is the decision of the court on changing the name of the child, but this is a rather troublesome process, it is usually resorted to it in extreme cases.

2
If the child is older, you will have to change not only the birth certificate, but also a number of other documents (for example, information in the passports of parents on the "Children" page). Therefore, it is best to change the name before it is inscribed in the passport. Same diagram of changing the name of children under 14 years old is similar to those indicated for newborns.

3
If there is a need to change the passport of a child over 14 years old, it should be remembered that at this age children already have their own passport. A legally 14-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation is not yet a full-fledged adult man, but the change of his name should be made necessarily under his consent, with his participation. A child can independently change the name in the presence of parental consent, certified notarized.

4
Children older than 16 years are entitled to change the name in its sole discretion, this does not require parental consent. The only need to specify the reason for the name change, but in the general scheme will be considered in a standard way.

Before changing the name of the child, think carefully about his decision not to run in the registry every month with a new statement. An alternative to changing the name may be a common trick. Nobody forbids you to name the child in its sole discretion (not as shown in the documents).
