How to repair a USB port

On your computer or laptop as a result of frequent operation can refuse a USB port. When connected to the device port, the computer does not see it, or the applications are not working correctly. First, disperse in possible causes of failure: may not work device, USB controller or USB driver. Therefore, solutions to problems will be different. Try to sort it yourself, acting according to the instructions.

1
The first thing that in this case should be done - restart the computer. This is a simple, affordable "nationwide" agent, sometimes enough to make it all.

2
To clarify which port creates a problem, disconnect all USB devices, including a mouse and keyboard. Then turn on the computer and, waiting for the full boot of the operating system, alternately attach all the devices disconnected. If a USB device creates a problem, then switch it to another port. The device has earned - the USB port is defective, does not work - a device or a USB cable is guilty.

3
Very often, the reason for the USB port failure is in damage to the cable or connector. Look carefully, there is no visible damage, chips, scratches on these items. Inspect the inside of the connector and the USB connector, blow to remove dust or other contaminants. You can clean the tassel or blow with a vacuum cleaner. The cable should be disconnected. Damaged, highly curved, siled cable must be replaced. Cable damage often occur due to the fact that when the device is disconnected, it is pulled for it, and not for the connector.

4
The port may not work due to overload when too many peripherals are connected to the computer. If you use a "dispenser" - USB-hub when connecting the device, then exclude it from the chain and try to turn on the device directly. If the problems occurs, the device must be connected only directly.

5
If it does not help, you should open the Device Manager and update the equipment configuration. To do this, click on the right mouse button on the "My Computer" icon, the context menu opens, select "Control" in it. In the Computer Management window, click "Device Manager" / "USB Controllers". Then go to the "Action" / "update equipment configuration" tab. If you see "USB controllers" after the update, everything is fine. If not, go to the next item.

6
The next step to solve the problem is to disable USB controllers. Since it is described above, go to "Device Manager" and delete all USB controllers that will open in the list, or only one, about which is worth an exclamation mark on a yellow background. Delete boldly, after rebooting the computer, the operating system will restore remote drivers.

If you have done all the steps of the instruction, and the port does not work, it means that you have done everything possible, and the laptop remains / the system unit to carry to the service center, there will be explained to you what is the reason for the USB port fail. Never try to make the repair of the port with your own hands.
