What to do if there is no flash drive

USB flash drives are considered durable digital devices. In fact, they are able to withstand about 10,000 cycles of rewriting, and then failures begin. Such malfunctions may arise much earlier. The computer does not see the flash drive or sees, but does not read. There may be different reasons for which the device ceases to function normally: hardware and software.

Try to read the USB flash drive through another connector, it is possible that the USB port is defective. Another reason - for the drive there is not enough power, disable the USB devices that are not used now. Failed to read, then connect the USB flash drive to another computer, can be a software error in your system. If another computer also sees the drive, then the reason is that the flash drive is faulty.

Check out the physical condition of the flash drive: there is no squeezing that can occur as a result of its fall. If you find hardware problems, then carry the USB flash drive to the service center. If the information is important, then they can restore it at least partially. In addition to external damage, there are electronic problems - controllers, memory chips, etc. do not work. Software problems can occur for different reasons. For example, incorrect flash drive recovery during information recording. It is necessary to enjoy the safe extract of the flash drive. The interrupted process or record too large can cause failure.

Try to open a flash drive through the "Explorer". Right-click on the flash drive icon and select "Explorer". Copy all the information you need to another media and format the card. After formatting with a flash drive, you can work, but you will lose information.

It does not work, then through the "Explorer", check how the flash drive is determined: if as a drive, then it can be formatted. After that, the flash drive should read. If you check the "properties" (right mouse button in the conductor) and see something like "USBVID_00000000000", it means that the flash drive will not work.

Another reason for the program error is a virus infection. Viruses you have cured, and the flash drive is not read - "no access". The virus creates the file "autorun.exe", in which autorun actions are recorded. After removing the virus, this file remained. You need to clean the registry and delete the file "autorun.exe". If it is not visible, then follow the steps: "Arrange" - "folder parameters" - "View", then select "Show hidden files and folders" and delete the file.

If you used all the proposed ways, but it is not possible to open a flash drive, then, most likely, it is seriously damaged, so much that restoration is impossible, it is necessary to purchase a new one. In order not to risk the valuable information for you, take the rule: be sure to do a duplicate on another carrier. For example, write on a durable DVD.
