Choosing a meter. Consider the main options:
Property of the coin-shaped form. Insert the rim of the disk into the gap between the contacts of the candles and rotate the "coin" around its axis. Continue rotation until the rim will be stuck between the contacts. The disk has a scale with marks that show its thickness at this point.
Property of coin-shaped shape with wires. According to the design, it is very similar to the previous option, but in this case the clearance must be measured not by the probe housing, but with wires of different diameters. They are on the edge of the meter.
Flat probe. Is the most convenient tool. Externally resembles a Swiss knife with a multitude of blades. In the tool, each blade is the probe of different thickness.

Cleaning contacts. If you are going to just check the gap on old candles and you do not plan to change them, first remove dust from the electrodes. Take advantage of a piece of pure material. Otherwise, you will not be able to find out the exact value due to a white plaque. If the electrodes are too blocked, apply 90% alcohol on the surface of the contacts. If the flaka is still not deleted to the end, the candles must be replaced. After cleaning, place the flat probe of the corresponding thickness or coin-shaped meter on a suitable mark in the gap.

Checking the gap. Look, whether it needs in adjustment. If the tool goes too easy between the contacts of the candles - the gap is increased, if not passes completely - reduced. Ideally, the dipstick should pass between the candle electrodes rather tight. It is worth noting that the majority of the current candles are not required to adjust the gap before they are installed. But some engines are difficult to choose candles. In these cases, you will have to measure and regulate the clearance on new candles.

Adjusting the gap. To reduce the gap, slightly seal the outer electrode towards the internal, and to increase - remove it, only outward. Remember that flexing contact by more than 0.5 mm at a time can not be. For the pimate, a very small effort should be done, so be careful. In the end measure the gap candle. If necessary, do the procedure again. During work, try not to hurt the inner electrode. Otherwise, you risk breaking the condition of the candle. As a result, the work done will turn out to be a lot.
