Many have herself about the benefits of dried berries. They can be used to prepare sweet baking, brew tea, make tinctures, consumed in pure form. In such berries, the maximum of vitamins is preserved, so they are valuable assistants during the treatment of colds. Fruit preparation for drying
Drying berries - an excellent alternative to freezing. The dried berries do not require much care, take up little space in the kitchen cabinet. You can dry absolutely any berries that you like. Even a large strawberry grade is suitable for drying. So that you have a vitamin billet from the first time, pay special attention to the preparation of berries:
- all the collected berries should be carefully moved (they should not be rotten, unfulfilled, with parasites);
- if you plan to dry the berries (for example, a plum or cherry), then the bones can be removed according to your desire (after they are eliminated, the berry will begin to let juice, so the fruits need to press well);
- berries need to be thoroughly rinsed under cold running water (exception are the fruits of raspberries, blackberries, strawberries);
- for the primary drying of the berries, use disposable paper towels or pure gauze;
- on all the fruits it is necessary to remove the frozen, trying not to disturb the integrity of the berries.
Drying berries in a natural way
If you have warm weather outside the window, the sun shines and blows a light breeze, then you can dry the berries in a natural way, on the street. Even if you live in an apartment building, then drying the useful fruits can be arranged on the balcony or on the windowsill (the window must be constantly open). How much time does the drying take, it is definitely impossible to say. But a week with berries will have to tinker a little.
- 1 step - We prepare the surface where the berries will be dried (it is better to choose a thin sheet of plywood and make holes in it for natural ventilation, old plastic trays are also suitable, which also need to do holes);
- 2 step - to store the surface with one layer of newsprints and lay out berries (the fruits should not touch each other);
- 3 step - cover the tray of gauze (but not too thick) and exhibit in the sun (direct sun rays should fall into berries);
- 4 step - for the next day, if the berries let juice, paper must be replaced with clean;
- 5 step - every other day Gently move the tray so that the berries turn over on the other side (the procedure is repeated as the fruit drying).
Even if you have covered the fruits of gauze, make sure that harmful insects do not fit. When the berries sound well dry, significantly decrease in volume, then they can be removed into hermetically closing capacity.
Berry in the oven
If you do not have time to dry out the berries in the fresh air, then a more modern method comes to shift. For drying, a gas or electric oven is used. In just one day cooking you can enjoy delicious dried berries.
- 1 step - Prepare the fruits to dry, shift onto the newspaper and handle it in the sun (it is better that the berries become slightly dried, it will make it easier for the procedure of the oven drying);
- 2 step - put the berries on the baking sheet, covered with one layer of parchment paper, install the oven 50 degrees (if your ovens starts warming up from 100 degrees, then the door of the oven must be opened);
- 3 step - when the fruits stop allocating juice, increase the temperature of up to 85 degrees;
- 4 step - continue to dry berries at such a temperature, periodically move the baking sheet so that the fruits change their position;
- 5 Step - Spend an external inspection of berries, if it has decreased significantly in size, does not allow juice and leaves the track in the hands when it is pressed, it means the fetus is well dried.
Dried berries retain their useful properties for several years. Be sure to keep them in tanks with a dense lid, do not allow moisture and developing parasites.
