How to make a server from a laptop

If you have a house of more than three computers, you have a tablet or smartphone, it makes no sense to store all the same files on your gadgets. You can connect to an always working laptop at any time, which will contain all the necessary files. With the proper configuration of all network parameters and laptop adapters, it can serve as an excellent storage server.

The very first thing to do is to buy the required number of network cables for contacting the working computers with a laptop (in the case of a tablet or a telephone distribution will occur via WiFi). You can use HUB (hub) to connect the machines to each other or the cable to connect the equipment to each other directly (you need to pay attention to the wires of the wires, as it may differ). You can also need a special USB adapter, because only one LAN port can be in the laptop.

By connecting to your main source (future server), the provider's network cable and performing all network settings using cooked cables, connect the rest of the computers to the laptop.

The next step is to configure the TCP / IP parameters of the network card of our server (laptop) in the list of network connections. By entering the value of the IP address in the properties of the network adapter, save it in the settings.

To complete the setting of the laptop to distribute the signal over the network, you need to activate sharing for other machines. Open "Internet connection" - "Properties" - "Access" - "put a tick".

Through the computer panel, open the "Local Network List" and select the TCP / IP protocol settings of that machine on which we will make further settings. You must enter the value of the IP address and designate it as a permanent one - in the field of the main gateway you need to enter the IP address of our laptop server. A preferred DNS server is installed in the same way.

All computers connected to the network hub must be configured similarly and belong to one working group.

The laptop permanently included is uninterrupted to supply the Internet all work network. It is worth considering that such a server will be energy-intensive, productive, non-wear and silent.
