How to make a rink

The ice rink in the yard is an excellent winter fun. However, to create it you need to have certain skills or know the theoretical side of the process. Check out the instructions and go to pour your own winter stadium!

1
Thoroughly approach the selection of space. The optimal platform size is 8 10 meters, the more - the better. However, planning the construction of a large rink enough, appreciate the labor costs and the time you can take on work. The perfect surface for the future rink - asphalt, that is, basketball courts and their analogues. But it is quite realistic to build mini-arena and on the smooth soil. For safety reasons, do not place the rink in the immediate vicinity of the roadway. Also, you should not pour ice next to residential houses to avoid the flooding of basements during the spring thaw.

2
Clear the territory from snow and garbage. Note the border roller. Outside the stadium, it is desirable to leave empty space (about 2 meters), where it is possible to discard snow with further cleaning site. All over the perimeter of the stadium you need to make a fiber with a height of at least 15 cm, which will hold water inside the rink. The easiest material for the side is snow, indulged by water. In addition, boards or bulk materials are suitable, for example, land, sand or gravel.

3
Align the Earth. Squares fill out a slightly moisture snow, the hills will try to drown a little, remove the pebbles. High-quality work at this stage guarantees truly smooth ice.

4
To the fill, proceed in good weather, without wind and snowfall, with an air temperature of about 5-7 degrees of frost. By the time of the construction of the roller, the soil should freeze to a depth of 5 meters and more so that it does not absorb water. Arm yourself with a long hose and a spray nozzle. If your skating rink is not too miniature, call at least one helper, which will control the position of the hose on a dry area.

5
Position the end of the sprayer at an angle of 25-30 degrees to the surface. In the absence of nozzles, lift the hose above, up to 35-45 degrees. Open water and fan movements water the entire area until the Earth covers with a liquid by 5-6 mm. Leave the layer to stick.

6
After a pair of hours, the ice fully solids. If the snow poured the surface, it must be removed. Otherwise, the subsequent layers will be bugs. Reolate water and wait until it hardens. When you get ice thickness in 2 cm, inspect the smooth hole on the subject of small holes. If such are detected, fill them with wet snow. The rink will be suitable for use as soon as the overall thickness of the layers will be 15 cm and more.

7
Provide a place to relax near the side. In the dam, make a notch, post shops or wide boards there. Lovers of the skates will certainly appreciate such a zone, because riding requires large energy costs.

After a certain period of use, cracks will appear on the rink and potholes. They should be filled with wet snow and spray a thin layer of water. To minimize the damping of a smooth surface, clean the ice from snow as soon as it fell.
