How to interview

The first interview in the role of the Chef is as exciting as in the role of the applicant for the position. But ways to prepare for the interview are almost the same for employers and employees.

How to conduct an interview - preparation

Check in advance with the summary of the candidate

Before the interview, you should again view the resume of your interlocutor. Mark for yourself position and information that does not get. Thus, prepare questions that still need to ask a challenger to work in your company. However, it is not necessary to ask what can be easily found in the summary (for example, about the received education or about previous experience). Such questions will only show that you have not familiarized yourself with the biography of the candidate. However, if you demand from interlocutors awareness of your company, be kind to do the same in relation to them.

Prepare an interview plan

Plan (and if necessary, write), what information do you want to know in the first place, and what questions will wait for the end of the interview, which you need to tell a candidate about your company, etc. Think about how much approximately the time interview will last. Having a ready-made action plan, you have less chances to lose and miss important questions.

Be prepared for the fact that the candidate can also ask questions, and not always the most pleasant. For example, he can ask if there is an opportunity for professional development or why the previous worker quit. Therefore, this fact should be taken into account and think about your answers in advance.

Create the right setting

The working atmosphere during the interview also plays an important role. Select a spacious bright office, check it in advance. Turn off the phone and take care that none of the employees distract you during the interview.

How to interview

  • For most candidates, the interview is an atypical and stressful situation. If you want to get to know your interlocutor and the future worker, help him get rid of nervousness and experiences. As soon as the candidate comes to you in the office, greet it, offer coffee or tea. Do not start the conversation immediately about work, first it is better to set several remote questions (for example, "it was not difficult to find our office?"). Easy conversation will first facilitate the whole conversation.

  • Being a chief, you should also be the main thing on the interview and control the situation. However, it is necessary to enable the applicant to speak out, thereby show itself. Ask questions that require an open response, and not just yes or no. Recently, the practice of unusual questions is popular. First, thus you will see the actions of your future employee in stressful situations, secondly, you can better get acquainted with the personality of the interlocutor.

At the end of the interview, thank the candidate for your interest and the desire to work in your company and do not forget to tell him how and when you contact him again.
