Some difficulties arise for a remote reboot or termination of a personal computer running Windows on the example of Windows 10, when using a remote desktop connection (Remote Desktop Connection).
Different features for remote reboot in Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems
In the case of Windows 7, you can run the Ctrl, Alt, Delete key combination on a remote personal computer (to send a key cluster via RDP you need to use this key combination), then, through "Power", restart or turn off the computer remotely.
But in the case of Windows 10, if you activate the CTRL key combination, Alt, Delete on a remote computer (using the combination of the same keys on your computer), there is no possibility through "Power" ("Power") to restart or turn off the remote computer. There is also no possibility to turn off or restart remotely computer through the "Start" menu. But there are a pair of methods to implement this task.
Method 1 for rebooting on Windows 10
Just click on the ALT and F4 key combination on your computer. A window will open on a remote computer with a choice of an option to complete the computer.
Now you can select "Shutdown", reboot or other option from the list.
Method 2 remote reboot Windows 10
Use the command line. You need to run the command line on behalf of the administrator, running the command through the context menu. Then use the "Shutdown" command to turn off, shutdown or reboot a remote computer. In this case, the "/ P" parameter sets the command off the remote computer without delay or warning.
The "/ F" parameter specifies the forced closure command of the running applications without warning users. The "/ s" parameter specifies the completion command of the computer. The "/ R" parameter specifies the command to complete the completion and restart the computer.
Using a user interface for remote reboot
If you want to use the same opportunity, but through the graphical interface, use the Shutdown / I command. After activating the command, a window opens with a graphical interface with the possibility of completing the computer. In this window, it is possible to add computers, select the desired action for selected computers and mark the most accurate description of the reasons why the computer is completed.
