How to rename the user folder in Windows 7

This instruction is valid not only for Windows 7, but also 8, XP. The Windows 10 operating system has some changes that relate to the interface and the appearance of folders, but the algorithm itself remains the same. Therefore, you can easily apply these instructions even to Windows 10. Changing the name of the user’s personal folder is possible only with the main account, that is, it must have administrator rights. If you needed to perform such a change, get out of your account and enter the administrative one: only here you have access to the accounting field, creating a password for them, deletion and restoration. Learn more about the names of the user's personal folders using the Windows 7 operating system.

1
As mentioned above, you need to leave your account through the start - change the user. If the administrative account does not belong to you, then explain your problem to another user and ask to use it.

Once in the administrative account, click on the Start menu and find the “Computer” item.

2
Press the right button on this field, and a small dropping list will be displayed on the right.

You need a section “Management”. Please note: a small shield icon next to the item means that only the administrator can enter it.

3
A “computer management” window will open in front of you.

The entire menu will be on the right side. Open the “Office Programs” tab by clicking on a small triangle next to this phrase. You will see the “Local Users” item. Click on it once.

4
You will open a window in which two points:

  • Users.
  • Groups.

If you previously divided all users of this computer into groups, you can try to find your account in this folder - it will be just faster. In any other case, go to the “Users” folder, pressing it twice.

5
All users of this computer will open before you. Please note that three more points will be set by default, that is, empty with standard names. To the right of them will be the explanation “Built -in account for the user”.

6
Click with the right mouse button for the account that you need to rename. The “Rename” item will appear in the drop -down list. You need it.

7
Enter any name that you came up with early. Now it will be displayed in such places:

  • When entering the system in the user choice menu.
  • Above the list in the start of the computer.
  • All addresses of folders on your computer will pass through your user name.

Thus, the renaming of the user's personal folder takes very little time. It is important to have access to an administrative account and a new name invented.
