How to put a password to the Windows folder

To secure your data from viewing by other users, it is enough to put all the files intended to protect the files into one folder and put a password on it. There is no built-in tool to install the password, so you have to use third-party software.

Install the password in WinRar. Right-click on the folder you want to protect, and select "Add to Archive".

Determine the name of the archive and leave a normal data compression to save time. Check the box next to the "Delete Files After Archiving" so that the files placed in the archive do not leave unprotected copies on the disk. Click "Set Password" and set the password. For more security, check the "Encrypt File Names" item - in this case, when opening the archive it will not be seen its contents.

To open a secure archive, double-click on the file and enter the password. You can add new files using the "Add to Archive" command.

Install the password to the folder using Anvide SEAL FOLDER. This small and free program does not require installation and can be launched with removable media. Unzip the downloaded file on the USB flash drive or another reliable place. Run the program. Select the interface language and accept the license agreement by clicking the "Accept" button.

After opening the program, click on the "+" button and select the folder. Double-click on it in the program window. Enter the password and confirm it. Click "Close Access". The program will ask for the creation of a password tip. For the safety net, you can use this feature and enter the leading information.

Note: If you did not create a hint, do not forget to write a password. For example, in a text file on a USB flash drive with an ANVIDE SEAL FOLDER copied to it.

Your folder disappeared from the disk. To make it visible and affordable, you need to run a program, select the secure folder in the menu, enter the password and click "Open Access".

Now you do not even need to run the program to encrypt the folder - this function will be built into the context menu. It is enough to choose a folder, click on it right key mouse and select "Protect with Flashcrypt".

Set and confirm the password. You can also choose to compress the data of the locked folder and decide whether to delete original unprotected files as they encrypt or not. For security, it is recommended not to touch this item.

The encrypted folder will be displayed with a special Flash Crypt icon. Open it and enter the password. The folder will be decrypted, and you can work with it.

All listed programs have their advantages and disadvantages. Archives do not require special skills, but not very convenient to work, problems may occur with the preservation of changes. Anvide Seal Folder does not encrypt the folder, but only hides, but it works very quickly. Flash Crypt encrypts the folder to conscience, but with large amounts of data running slowly. Therefore, choose the most user-friendly option.
