Liquid wallpapers are a dry mixture of cellulose fibers in a mixture with adhesive substances, which is required to be breeded with water. Sometimes liquid wallpapers are sold ready for use in the form of thick creamy mass. This type of decor is an excellent solution for finishing the ceiling, as the texture of the material allows you to easily reorganize irregularities, corners and small cracks on it.
The main advantage of liquid wallpapers is the ability to not remove the ceiling or walls into a single level, which greatly facilitates the work. The ceiling finish is carried out in three stages:- Surface preparation: primer coating;
- Preparation of finishing material;
- Application, drying liquid wallpaper.
- Thoroughly clean the surface: I blur the ceiling on the ceiling or remove the old wallpaper with a spatula. If the ceiling overlap is painted with water-mounted or acrylic paint, then it will be enough just to scrape separating areas.
- Large cracks are cushioned and recall the grated surface of the ceiling.
- After putty, we apply the base - the primer mixture. You can do without primer, but then putty or plaster can easily sprinkle together with the decor applied to them. The basis should be uniform coloring and have absorbent properties, any white water emulsion is also suitable.
Note: On the packaging of liquid wallpapers, the manufacturer usually indicates which primer is better to use for a basis.
The next stage is the breeding of liquid wallpaper, this can be done until the primer dries:- Strictly observe the methods for breeding the mixture.
- We pour water into the container, it must be not hot and not cold.
- Pour the powder, carefully stir it.
- After 12 o'clock, we once again wash the mixture, add pigment compounds by necessity.
- Adhesive components must swell during this time - it will be quite thick enough, ready to apply.
- Wallpapers are applied immediately after cooking, you should use the entire volume of liquid wallpaper for one reception, that is, they are not soaked and not bred.
- For applying to the ceiling, we use a construction grater of plastic or metal and celma.
- We take a small portion of swollen wallpapers and apply to dried primer.
- We distribute wallpaper with a thickness of 1-4 mm, it is important to evenly carry out the application of the material on the ceiling.
- The grater is moving the applied finish, take the following portion of liquid wallpaper.
- The boundaries between the wallpaper sites are also smoothed by a grater. The direction of the fibers are adjustable during the distribution of the material on the surface.
- Within two days after applying, the wallpaper is frozen, and it is better not to touch them during this period of time.
The disadvantage of this type of finishes is instability to water, that is, they are easily flushed from the surface. If you are finishing the ceiling in the bath or in the kitchen, then be sure to apply a special substance to the wallpaper that will ensure their moisture resistance. Liquid wallpaper life ranges from 8 to 10 years. But all these shortcomings are overlapped with ease of use and environmental material, since all types of liquid wallpapers are manufactured exclusively from natural materials.
