Then you will no longer receive notifications about new events and messages that occurred inside this branch. The main feature of the conversation is what coming out of it, you will not be able to go back by creating a conversation or by invitation.
Return to the conversation, if the tab is preserved
If you came out of the conversation, but this tab was not removed, everything is pretty simple - go into a conversation, press the action button, in the upper right corner, and choose back to the conversation from the list. After that, you will enter the chat again and you will receive notifications from it. Note that those messages that were written by chat participants at the time until you participated in the conversation, you will not see.
Return to the conversation of VK if you delete the tab
If after you left the conversation, you deleted all the chat from messages, you need to get a link to this conversation. After that, enter the http://vk.com/im link, and add the sequence number of your conversation to it, for example, http://vk.com/im?sel\u003dc5, where C5 is the required number. After the actions done, your conversation will open, where you can already press the action button in the upper right corner - return to the conversation.
