Knowing how to set up the procedure for accessing disks in the BIOS, can be useful in different cases, among which is reinstalling the OS, loading from an emergency reducing flash drive or a disk with another distribution. There are some nuances associated with the load from a hard disk or flash drives, which we will also tell me below.
How to enter BIOS?
Obviously, to change the disk from which the user wants to load, you need to get into the BIOS. And if earlier the list of hot buttons was limited to several simple combinations, at the moment "guess" the first time, the action planned by the developers may not be easy. The easiest to know the necessary sequence of actions is to carefully look at the download screen. For this:
- turn on the computer;
- while the machine displays statistics on a black screen, looking for a "Press Del to Enter Setup" or "Press F2 to ENTER BIOS Settings" (example on image);
- the most common hotkes to enter the BIOS - F2, DEL or F10;
- click them immediately after turning on the PC or until the Windows logo appears;
- if the laptop uses a Fast Boot technology, or any other that does not output the following data on the screen, turn it off;
- click F2, press the power button without releasing hotkes until the entry menu appears in the BIOS;
- for the same purposes on the laptop case, there may be a specially indicated "branded" button.
How to set the download from the disk in bios
So, in the BIOS we got, now you need to understand the mass of the settings, to manipulate the system to us. Since BIOS versions may differ slightly, consider specific examples. If you have Bios Phoenix AwardBIOS:
- on the main screen, go to "Advanced Bios Features";
- we are looking for in the list of First Boot Device (this is the first medium to which the computer will add) and select the desired, for example CDROM;
- click the ESC button, save the "Save & Exit Setup" button - everything is simple.
- restart the PC, which, with a new inclusion, be loaded from the device specified in the BIOS;
- if you do not see the "Advanced Bios Features" partition on the main screen, among the tabs are looking for the "Boot" menu;
- we go into it and choose the order order (relevant for UEFI BIOS).
It should be borne in mind that for one-time loading from a flash drive or other media, it is not necessary to change the procedure for accessing disks through the BIOS. After turning on the PC, it is necessary to simply call the hotkey Boot Menu (Del, F2, F12, F11, ESC - we are looking for the corresponding instructions on the screen) and select the desired device.
