BIOS is a comprehensive program connecting, as well as driven computer components with an operating system. And the rest of the computer equipment depends on the quality of its functioning. Therefore, even if other components are good, and the BIOS is no, the PC will work incorrectly or not load at all. Saving the situation will help reinstall or update the entire BIOS system, it is only necessary to carry out certain actions.
1
The first thing that will be needed is to find out which version of Bios you had originally, as well as what kind of motherboard model you use. There are several ways to do it. One of them - through the Setup menu. Entering it by pressing the DEL button in the first minutes of the computer, look for the Bios Version string. The combination of letters and numbers of this string will be the required information. The second way is to extract data from information running on the screen before downloading. To have time to remember the necessary items, use the Pausebreak button. The third method is the most convenient. Opening the Start menu, call the command line by pressing the "Run" item and enter the command "MSINFO32" there. In the window that opens, you can easily find everything you need.
2
The next step is to prepare software. If you do not have a backup copy of your bios, or you want to reinstall the latest version, then go to the official website of the company to which the model of your motherboard owns, and download BIOS bootable files from there. Usually they are shipped archived.
3
Unpack the archive and copy the files received to formatted in advance USB-Flash media. It is possible to do this without a formatting step, but reinstalling this kind - the procedure is very scrupulous, the slightest failure threatens to bring your computer to complete dissent. A flash drive with traces of past records may well be the cause of this failure. You can copy new BIOS files to the CD and on a floppy disk if you still use such raritets.
4
Next, without removing the digital media with the update files, reboot and open Setup again. This software has many modifications, so interfaces have the most different. Your task is to find the Tools section among options, and in it the item responsible for updating the BIOS. For example, it may look like that - ASUS EZ Flash 2. The name of such a utility is for your system you can find in the user manual or on the Internet. Run this option and go to the flashing program window. It contains the path to the disk with the data. Having found it, run the installation files.
5
The BIOS menu does not always contain the built-in update function from paragraph 4. In this case, the reinstall will have to do with MS-DOS mode. How to create a boot disk of this mode, you can learn from additional instructions on the network. Favoring such a disk, transfer the BIOS reset files to it, and then run the computer, setting the previation priority from the digital media used. In MS-DOS mode, applying a manually dialed DIR command (View files in the root folder) and CD (change the folder), find your distribution. Having listed its name to the command line, press ENTER, after which your BIOS will be re-established.
The firmware of the I / O system of the BIOS on its own, especially the first time, is appropriate only in extreme cases when there are no other outputs. Otherwise, it is better to trust this by a specialist. But if you have already taken up for it yourself, remember - throughout the reset process, your computer must be securely secured. With the most small voltage jump, failing or interrupting the motherboard will inevitably be damaged and fails.
