How to delete a user in windows 7

Windows operating system implies the ability to create multiple users on one computer. So you can use the PC with the whole family and do not interfere with your personal files with each other. However, unnecessary accounts can only clog disk space. It is better to delete unused accounts on your computer. When you need a new guest account, just create it again. In this article, you will see a visual manual to delete a user account in Windows 7 in two ways: through the control panel and through the computer control folder. Do not forget that such an algorithm can be applied to Windows 8, 10, but the interface is somewhat different in these systems.

How to delete a user in Windows 7 through the control panel

  • The easiest way is to delete a personal user folder in the control panel. Go to the "Control Panel" field through the Start in the computer explorer.

  • Configure sections by category. To do this, at the right upper corner, you must have the value "View: Category".
  • Select the "User Account and Family Control" tab.

  • In the window that appears, almost all the access settings for personal user folders will be available. Watch up the "User Accounts" section, and in it "adding and deleting user accounts."

  • You will open a window with all personal folders on this computer. You need to click the mouse to the one you want to delete or change.

  • The menu opens with a small list of options for the user. Click on the "Delete Account" link.

You will have two points to choose from:

  • "Delete Files" - fully erases all account data and its owner. All documents from the desktop and personal folders will be deleted.
  • "Saving File" - Personal data will be transferred to an administrative account, you save part of the data.

Choose the one that suits you more.

Confirm your action by clicking "Deleting an account". Now the personal user folder is erased, and you will not see it in the list of users. Restore deletion is possible only to roll back the system to the nearest backup point, so think well before deleting the folder.

2
How to delete a user in Windows 7 through computer management

This method is somewhat more complicated than the previous one, but it is perfectly suitable if you have any problems or the account has not been deleted in the control panel.

  • Go to the "My Computer" directory. On the left you will see a list of root folders, find the "computer" there and click on it right mouse button. Select "Management". Please note that there is a small shield near this item. This means that only the computer administrator has access to this superstructure, so you must be in an administrative account.

The Computer Management folder opens. In the list on the left, find the "Local Users" string. There will be two items within this section:

  • Users.
  • Groups.

Go to the "Users" folder.

  • You will see absolutely all users of this computer. Lay and right-click on whose personal folder you want to delete.
  • From the drop-down list, select "Delete".

  • Confirm your intention by clicking "Yes."
Now all information about the user and his account will be erased.
