How to make a false window

When designing space, we appeal to various methods and designer tricks. And one of the techniques is to create a false window, successfully imitating the hole in the wall, as a rule, with a bright view. Such an illusion is able to drastically change the environment and set the general mood to the interior. Today we will talk about how to make a false window.

Increasingly, a false window can be found in the home interiors, because the decorative element is able to solve several designer tasks and is considered ideal in such cases:

To combine the two or more window blocks of the elongated form, which are close to each other, and correct the unsuccessful layout.
If the room has small sizes, and I would like to visually expand the space.
If there are dark surveys in the room, which would not badly illuminate by creating a false window with backlight.
In order to fill the niche without creating the effect of "closed space" and the so-called border removal.

Falsh windows can have a completely unpredictable appearance and design, as these trends are limited only by the person's fantasy, but still distinguish several types of false window openings, which differ in the way of incarnation and location of the structure:

Drawn "windows". Illusion is created by sticking pictures that look realistic, photo wallpapers with scenery of various corners of the planet and cities of the world, as in distant nineties, and images in 3D format. Thanks to the reception of the mirroring display of the already existing window, you will refresh any interior and create an effect of expanding space.
"Window" in the frame. In this case, along with a drawn or printed pattern, a real frame is used. For its manufacture, boards or ceiling moldings are used. To achieve greater realism, you can make an opening as a real: install the windowsill, placing pots on it with indoor plants.
"Window" in the ceiling. Recently, such elements are created more often than imitation of the window opening in the walls. This design looks most effectively if framed by suspended ceiling, as it creates a feeling that the transparent and air roof spread over you. To create a false window, mirror tiles are used, tensioning photo-web and backlight.
"Window" in niche. Most often, reception is used in the bathroom. The product put in a niche, attaching to the side panels of the lamp to create an illusion of a sunny day. If you plan to install the glass for a false window, then take a matte, as in the bathroom high humidity, and condensate quickly falls. In addition, the stained glass glass will look excellent.
"Window" in the kitchen. As a rule, the composition is created on the wall connecting the kitchen and the hall. The windows make different, in the frame and without photos of the family. In addition, they can overlap on each other.
Mirror "window". A separate view is the creation of a mirror false window using an ordinary mirror, which is complemented for realism by all attributes of the present window opening: cornice with curtains, windowsill with flowers.

At the preparatory stage, follow these tips:

To create a false window, prepare: a landscape image, transparent plastic, which has a thickness of 2 mm, titanium glue and mounting foam, tape of LEDs and wires, foil with leatherette, frame and sheet of plywood, plastic corner and stationery knife, and also transformer.
To decide on the shape of the false window - vertical or horizontal, look at the future landscape.
To determine the size of the window opening, analyze the image proportions and dimensions of the room, where it is planned to install the design. However, the minimum sizes of the false window are such: a narrow side - from 50 cm to 80-100 cm.
We are heading to the advertising company, where we order the interior printing on the light-up film - Backlite. Remember that the picture must be high-quality for the size you specify, be it sky, city or sea. With the slightest doubts, the drawing is better to change.

After printing, we will make the manufacturer of the box:

For the box you will need a large sheet of transparent plastic (you can use plexiglass), which has a thickness of 2 mm. It is not worth shooting a protective film with plastic, as the material is easily scratched, it is recommended to shoot it after work.
It is necessary to cut 10 blanks: 1 will be used as a base for the image, the cover is as size as the drawing, minus 2 cm for the flexion of the film; 4 wall blanks, which have a height of 10-12 cm; 1 for the bottom, the workpiece is of the same size as the base, minus the half-meter on each side; 4 walls for the bottom - 10-12 cm.
To glue the plastic, you will need dichloroethane. However, it can be replaced by the usual PVC glue, for example, "Titan". To achieve stiffness and accuracy of angles when mounting the wall to the lid or the bottom, PVC is used in white.

Now you should glue the image and set LEDs:

In order to reflect the light from the source well, take the bottom with the food foil. The source is the LED tape, which is characterized by the frequent location of the luminous elements. Cut it on segments that must have a length equal to the big side of the box. In our case, 130 cm.
Attach the LED strips on the box, withstanding a step 4 cm from the edge, and smear them with each other. From each group, the bands should be made to the transformer using the usual "twisted pair" and to the outlet.
Stick to the lid of the future False window image. So that the lumen does not have a noticeable adhesive composition, do not apply it throughout the plane. It is enough to glue the sidewalls that part that will be fed subsequently. On the outside walls, lock the leatherette. Instead, you can use any other dense material that is a light-tight.

Conduct installation in accordance with the instructions:

After connecting the lower part to the electricity through the transformer, on top of the lid. Having placed the intensity of lighting, rigidly secure the upper and lower part. At the edge of the box, glue the leathes with the titanium glue.
Make a recess in the overhaul, using a perforator. It is done on 3 centimeters deeper than the box itself, and 2 centimeters is more in width and height. Remember that the box should be measured after it is fully assembled.
Align the rear walls of the niche by mounting the plywood sheet on the mounting foam, which has a thickness of 12 mm. The box is sent to a niche and watch it that its front side is accurately and without distortion. Making sure that the slots of the gaps on the sides using the mounting foam, the excess of which is removed after the frozen.

To give the realism of the false window, we use the wooden frame-platband, you can accommodate shutters and windowsill, putting vases with alive room plants on it. In addition, successfully complement the imitation of the window opening of the curtains.
