If the wiring in the house is made by experts, and the house is quite new, then determine which wire is a phase, and what - zero - easy. Wires differ in color. If the wiring is made professionally, the phase wire is brown (sometimes black), and zero - blue (blue). In new homes there are also the third, protective, so-called "earth". To determine the phase, we will need one simple device - indicator screwdriver. There are many varieties, but do not choose an expensive with many functions. It is quite simple, but get it better in specialized stores. Ensure that it is designed for voltage at least 500 V. It is usually indicated on the handle or packaging. The sting of the screwdriver almost to the end should be covered with plastic.
How to determine the phase
Insert the sting of the screwdriver alternately into the holes of the socket and touch the finger to the end part ("Pyataku") screwdriver. In no case we touch the bare part of the screwdriver sting. If the LED inside the screwdriver lights up - this is the phase. We check the second hole - if the LED does not shine, then it is zero.
There are other, more complex ways to determine the phase, but searching the phase using an indicator screwdriver is a simple process that does not require high costs and that most importantly is safe.
