The images of the disks have many conservation options: in addition to the well -known ISO file, you can get MDS and MDF files. These two permits are inextricably linked. The thing is that when creating an image with CD and DVD, both files with different formats are obtained, and one can no longer open one without another. Why do you need a file MDS and MDF
When you create the image of the CD and DVD disk and want the images to work exactly like a disk, you have to resort to these formats. Their action is relatively simple: one file stores information about the headlines, the timecode, the procedure for playing tracks or films, and the other contains films or audio recordings themselves. Thus, you cannot open the MDS file without MDF. If you try to open MDF, then you will be able to get the contents, but it will not be streamlined.
You can again write such images to the disk, which will automatically be read in audio and DVD players. If you lose and delete the MDS file, then automation will stop working, you will receive separate parts of the files.
How to open MDS and MDF
Any programs for unpacking the images will be made:
- Ultra ISO;
- Alcohol 120%;
- Daemon Tools;
- Magiciso;
- ISO Buster.

Go to the site and select the Lite tab. This version of the program is facilitated, but has all the necessary settings and opportunities. The remaining versions are designed for experienced users and multitasking.

The installation is quite simple and will not cause you difficulties: accept the license agreement, indicate the installation site, agree with the changes.
After that, the program will be in your Start panel, as well as on the desktop.
MDS and MDF image mount
In the correct language, you do not open the image, but mount it, that is, simulate a physical CD disk in your optical drive of a computer. To begin with, you need to create a virtual drive into which you supposedly insert your image.
After opening the program, click on the “Add Drive” line in the left menu.
Ask absolutely any letter designation values, leave the type of drive DT, and the DVD region - 1. To finish, click “Add the drive”.
After that, you can start mounting. Click on a round icon in the lower left corner of “quick mount”.
Select MDS and MDF file, or only MDF. Click “Open”.
Mounding will take a few seconds, depending on the size of the files in the image.
As soon as the procedure is over, you can see the contents of your image.
As you can see, it is impossible to open a separate file separately, since it goes together with MDF contents. You can try to figure out the image yourself and streamline files, however, such an image will not be read on audio players, you will not be able to write it to another drive in various DVD installations.
