The Windows registry is the operating system database, it stores the information required to work properly. There are viruses and failures caused by careless acts of the user to damage this section of the OS. If your PC has suffered such a fate, use one of the registry restoration methods discussed below.

To recreate lost information in all versions of Windows, there is a special function - "Restore system files and parameters". To go to it, go to the Start menu, and then open the "All Programs" section → "Standard" → "Service" and select "System Restore".

In the window that opens, click the Next button to select the recovery point. If you did not make a copy of the system status before making changes, use the automatic one. Recovery points are created by default every ten days. Select the nearest and click "Next". After pressing the "Finish" key, the computer will start a reboot, so pre-make sure that all the necessary information is saved on the hard disk.

After confirming the recovery, it begins to prepare for it. Then OS reboots. If this procedure does not help, try to choose an earlier recovery point.

If you have a copy of the registry, use it to replace the damaged original. To do this, call the "Start" menu of the Regedit utility through the search bar.

In the menu of the program, select the "File" section, and in it, IMPORT. Find a copy and transfer it to the current registry.

If due to the damage of the registry, it is not possible to even load the operating system, try to restore it using the boot disk. To do this, connect a removable disk or flash card to your computer with an ISO-way OS. After that, try to first restore the registry, without affecting other files necessary for the operation of the operating system. To do this, when you start the boot disk in the "System Restore" section, select "Start Restore" section, wait for the download and check whether the registry was restored.

If the previous procedure does not solve the problem, fulfill the full OS restore. At the same time, all system files will be converted, including the registry. To do this, repeat the steps described in the previous paragraph, but instead of the "Start Recovery", select Restore System.

If you do not have an ISO file with the operating system, use the SAFE MODE special download mode. To invoke it before downloading the OS when the computer is turned on, press the F8 key. In the dialog box, select "Last Successful Configuration" and wait for the PC. After switching on in this mode, the registry files and other parameters of the OS will be restarted. Then restart the computer and log in in the usual way.
To restore the registry and operation of the operating system without any problems, it is recommended to make a copy of the OS database. In this case, you can completely reanimate the computer after a failure, saving all configuration files and parameters. If you do not have your own copy, use the automatically created. It is updated every 10 days in it, so some data can be outdated, but you will still manage to return the operating system to the working system.
