How to make the Windows system restore

In the situation of the operating system failure, when some programs cease to function or appear errors, it will help the restoration of the system and return to an earlier state when there were no such problems.

The "Recovery System" component is in the following Windows operating systems: Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. In these OS, when the service includes, backup copies (control points) of many files are created: system files, registry copies, most Drivers. Rollback for more than a computer status does not affect personal data and files (photos, video and audio files, documents). Some programs that have been installed after the control point may not work or be removed, but there are exceptions.

The "Restore System" component has limitations: the limited size of the hard disk memory is allocated to its operation, therefore, according to the exhaustion of the reserved place, the old recovery points are removed. Sometimes this component is disabled at all, so as not to affect the performance of the computer and do not take place on the disk.

Before you start, you need to save all changes in personal files, because Active programs will be closed, and the computer will be rebooted. To run the System Restore Program, use several ways:

By clicking the "Start" button, select the "All Programs" column, then "Standard" and in the "Service" folder to click on the "Restore System".
Log in to the "Help and Support" folder through the "Start" menu and select "Cancel Changes by Recovering System".
In Windows 8, press the Windows + R keys combination, in the appeared window in the row, enter RSTRUI.
In the control panel, open the section "System and Security", select "Restoring the Previous Condition of the Computer".

First of all, a window opens with recovery points. The recovery point required to troubleshoot the recovery point is the date of which is earlier than the date when problems began. For greater confidence, search for affected programs, clicking on the corresponding button in this window. If the list does not have the desired point, then you need to install a tick near the graph "show other recovery points".

If the last recovery point in the list has been created for a long time, you can create a new manually, but it should be remembered that the earliest point can be removed. So, we go to the folder "Computer", select "System Properties" in the menu, then "System Protection". In the window that opens, select "Create a Recovery Point", give name, date and time are added automatically.

Selecting the desired point, click on the "Next" button. The system restore process will begin: restore files and parameters, system recovery initialization, registry recovery, deleting temporary files. After completing the system recovery, a computer is rebooted. Next, check whether the failure is fixed if not, then select another recovery point.

The system recovery is not complicated, but often a very effective process. However, such failures occur when the system recovery does not give proper result, then the correct solution will reinstall the operating system.
