How to insulate windows - Swedish technology

Wooden windows are dissolved over time, and the gaps increase in them, which leads to drafts and thermal losses. Previously, this problem was solved by sealing the wool and the frame of the perimeter of the frame - a way that requires annual hassle and having a bunch of flaws. Nowadays, a more efficient version of wind insulation is available, based on Swedish technology.

1
In fact, it is not just warming for the winter, rather - partial repair of the window structure, after which the sash can be freely opened, purging disappear, and the service life of the material used is at least 10 years. The method was obtained by the "Swedish" name due to the groin seal of Eurostrip, manufactured by the concern from Sweden Trelleborg. The product is a rubber roller with a diameter of 6-12 mm with a shank in the form of "Christmas trees", which serves to consolidate. Two varieties are made:

  • EUROSTRIP SILICONE - based on silicone;
  • EUROSTRIP EPDM - based on natural rubber.

2
Warming work is carried out in a specific sequence. At first, the framework is carried out, defects are detected, the performance of the fittings is checked and the places of blowers are noted. Then the sash is removed and fit them: the gaps are eliminated and the paint that prevents dense closure is removed.

3
On the perimeter of the flaps with a milling mill, a 3x4 mm groove is performed, a tubular sealing of the desired size is mounted in a dressing roller. The glass is placed on silicone sealant, if necessary, faulty loops and locks are replaced. After that, the flaps are installed in place.

4
In the absence of a special tool, the fastening of seals occurs on liquid nails or sealant with additional fixation with metal brackets. The quality of this installation will be worse, but can also be considered an alternative to installing new windows.

Installing the Deventer Seal on the window

In conclusion, it should be added that the Swedish technology is designed for windows in a satisfactory condition - wood has not yet rotted, and the geometry of the sash is not very violated.
