Today, custom recovery, that is, the recovery environment for android devices, offers much more opportunities than the built-in software. Therefore, below we consider step-by-step installation using the example of the popular TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project).

How to install recovery on android - preparation for the firmware process

It is important to know that (in some cases, for example, when the power is turned off, disconnecting from the wire), the installation of a custom recovery can be reduced to a decrease in device performance, errors, failures and other dysfunctions. In this case, the device loses the remaining warranty period, so all manipulations should be made extremely carefully, on its own risk. By default, it is assumed that the bootloader is already unlocked on the smartphone or tablet, and the Android SDK Platform Tools is installed. If the device satisfies the conditions described, we do the following:

• Download the appropriate version of the recovery for Android, which corresponds to the model of our smartphone \\ tablet.
• Save the file to the Platform-Tools folder android SDK (you can choose any other place, but it will be easier to specify the path to further commands).
• Turn on USB debugging.

Installing third-party recovery on android

Now you can start booting to a software package with a custom recovery medium. This procedure implies the use of the Windows operating system (the version is not fundamentally important):

• switch to "FastBoot": For some devices there may be another sequence of pressing the buttons, but basically you need to press and hold "- sound" and the power button before the menu appears;
• by the next action, we connect the device to the USB to the PC, previewing the presence of a sufficient number of charge on the first device;
• through the computer we go to the SDK Platform-Tools folder;
• click Shift and make the right mouse button on an empty place at the same time;
• select the "Open command window" item;
• we enter the FastBoot Flash Recovery Recovery.img command, send to the ENTER button (Explanation: on site recovery.img should be the path to the file of the same name; if it is posted in the Tools folder, we enter the name "as is");
• after a successful end notification appears, the device can be turned off.

How to install recovery on android - first launch

When the TWRP installation is completed, the smartphone screen will still be a FastBoot menu. To test just received by Caste:

• select the "Recovery Mode" item, moving on the list of volume buttons and confirming the actions by pressing on the power supply;
• after the initial input, select the language and mode of operation - only for reading or "resolving changes";
• if you choose the first option, the custom recovery will disappear after another reboot;
• the selection of the second will leave TWRP on the system section;
• you can also mark the check box "no longer show it when loading."

The main caste firmware menu will allow you to flash zip files, set third-party firmware, back up or restore files from the backup, to reset to factory settings with full data destruction.
