How to glue the mirror on the windshield

The regular rear view mirror in all modern cars is simply glued to the windshield. However, the long service life, the impact of different temperatures, shaking and vibration on the road may adversely affect the properties of the glue holding the mirror attachment, and it will simply fall off. And sometimes you have to change the windshield, and with it and the mirror, just to replace the mirror to another, for example, with the DVR. In a word, know how to attach the mirror to the glass, it is worth any motorist.

Not any glue will hold the design of the mirror on the windshield of the car. Even the glue that ideally shows itself with static loads, it will not be able to withstand humidity, temperature differences, vibration along the ride. Instant adhesives designed for work on glass are not suitable for gluing the mirror - even if they manage to fit well with glass, the bunch with a mirror bracket may not be sufficiently strong. Bilateral tape and silicone glue, most likely, will not stand heating in the sun and vibration. Use two-component glue specially designed to glue the mirror to the windshield. This composition can be purchased at any car store.

Thoroughly wipe the windshield, remove dust, dirt, you can use a special degreasing agent. Together with glue, a special markup grid is included, which must be glued to the windshield, after calculating the place of the mirror fastening. It is installed approximately in the middle of the windshield, slightly retreating down, on an equal distance from the passenger and the driver.

Disassemble the mirror mount, only a duralum bracket must be glued, which will later be collected by the mirror. By reducing the weight of the glued part, you will provide a light and durable grip with glass. Shaking the cylinder with glue, apply a thin layer of the substance on the glass into the slot of the milling grid and the same thin layer on the bracket. Wait 10 seconds and align the parts. It is best to leave glue to complete drying - at least for the night, and then collect all the mirror on the glued bracket. The ideal conditions for grasping glue is the temperature of about + 20 ° C.

If you purchased such a mirror, with the fastening of which you cannot cope, or just afraid to disassemble it, then you can stick all the mirror. By a similar scheme, apply a thin layer of glue on the glass and fastening the mirror, align and leave up to dry. But in this case, you need to firmly fix the mirror additionally, for example, a pair of scotch strips so that the mirror under its own weight fell from the glass until the glue is not enough. When it dries, and you will be convinced of the design strength, remove the marking grid.

If you do not want to mess with glue and assembling the mirror, you can simply use the services of any auto repair shop. Approximately 300-500 rubles you will stick the mirror on the laid place.

By purchasing glue in a car shop, do not forget to make sure of its shelf life, since the overdue makeup will not bring the proper effect, and you will spend time and wasted. And after you stick the mirror, try a couple of days not to raise glass in the car to weigh the smell from the cabin.
