How to install arches extenders

An increase in the wheeled arches of the car is carried out with the help of various linings differing as manufacturing material and the method of consolidation. Consider the installation of common expansion modifications.

Used tools

For normal installation, the lining will be needed:

• Drill;
• Drills with a diameter of 3-8 mm;
• Car instrument;
• Scissors.

In some cases, the sealant is useful, and sometimes it will have to put a little and paink.

Installation of plastic expansion

Plastic products are fixed exclusively at the plus temperature, preferably at least 20 ° C.

Procedure for work:

1. The car wash and dried, the placement of expander is degreased.
2. Separate a set to separate parts for each arc, focusing on stickers on the inside of the parts.
3. Remove the factory screws of the fastening of the bumper, mudguard and plastic threshold.
4. Partially remove the protective film from the tape lining, freeing the outline of the expander.
5. Purify the item at the place, adjust the gap between the pad and the wing.
6. Install the regular screws, check the joints.
7. Place complete fasteners of expanders.
8. Remove the fully protective layer of double-sided sticky tape and press overlays to the car body.
9. In the same way, the remaining expansors are assembled.

To secure the adhesive layer, it takes time - from several hours to days.

Installing rubber expanders

Flexible overlays made of thermoelastoplast are equipped with a fastening PVC ribbon or galvanized plates. The products are a soft tape, most often a length of 6 m, with an installation profile and a hole under the reinforcing wire.

Installation sequence:

1. Measure the wheel arc.
2. The size is cut off the canvas and fastening tape.
3. The polyvinyl chloride strip (or steel plates) is inserted into the rubber lining groove.
4. Tightly pressing the details to the sidewall, the drill is drilled by holes.
5. Fix the expander by means of tapes with a hexagon head.

When screwing up the screws, the soft tape is intended to be collected in the fold, so it is better to heat it slightly with a technical hairdryer and reconcile when installed.

Clear fit

The problem of large slots between overlays and body, characteristic of cheap kits, is solved as follows:

• Push the painting tape top of wheeled arches.
• Prepare putty, apply it to a thick layer on the expander's side.
• Attach the lining on the arch screws and give the composition to harden.
• After drying, the putty remove the expander.
• Spit irregularities and tinted visible parts.
• Remove the tape and set the lining in place.
