How to make a fireplace from the furnace

Fireplaces, like stoves, serve to heat the room, and also perform element of the decor. They create a cozy atmosphere at home. It is much easier to redo the old oven under the fireplace than to create it from scratch. A plus of such a restructuring is the presence of an existing chimney.

First of all, it is necessary to check the health of the chimney and the presence of good thrust that is needed for the fireplace. To do this, you can contact the cook or check yourself. The thrust force depends on many factors. The first and most important is the height of the chimney - the pipe must be at least 4.5 m, the higher, the better. Weak thrust occurs in the case of a small cross section of the chimney, and its most optimal form is round. Much depends on the inner surface: the smoking, the better the thrust, and the protruding bricks, soot, deposits and ledges reduce it. If the chimney for one reason or another is not suitable, you need to remake it, and only then do the fireplace directly.

You should pay attention to the hole of the furnace and increase it if necessary. In the future, it can close the decorative fireplace door, which is made from refractory glass. If the furnace has a durable foundation and body, it makes no sense to redo them. Between the floor and the ovens herself the optimal distance of 25 cm, it is often filled with sand. The depth of the fuel should be 50 cm. If the stove matches all these parameters, further actions are aimed at decorating the fireplace.

So that the fireplace had an aesthetic appearance, it is plated by brick or special tiles using a clay solution with the addition of cement. It should be kneaded a few days before the masonry. Used both refractory brick and normal. Each piece is checked for cracks and chips, because the appearance and durability depends on it. Before masonry, each brick is soaked in cold water for 5 seconds. It absorbs moisture less, the seam becomes thin and smooth, and the masonry itself is much stronger.

After all the work, at least two weeks should pass before you start using the fireplace. Firewood must be dry, otherwise there may be an unpleasant smell and the formation of the resin. At the first extract, it should be carefully watching whether it is not smoke to the room, and is enough air in the furnace, because its oversupply or shortage leads to overheating of the furnace or the selection of by-products of combustion. If everything is in order - the fireplace is ready for further operation.

Make a fireplace from an existing furnace simply, however, the main complexity arises when decorating it. A very important point is the selection of high-quality materials. It is not worth saving on this, because the fireplace is a homely focus, looking at which it becomes warm and cozy.
