How to properly tie the cucumbers in the greenhouse

Cucumbers are a very useful vegetable culture that grows quickly and with proper care gives a good harvest. In addition to abundant irrigation and sufficient fertilizer, cucumber bushes need to be taught. If on the open section of the plant can be freely placed on the ground, then in the greenhouse conditions can not do without their tapping.

1
Why need a garter

In the greenhouse, the plants are mandatory need to be supported, to prevent the loss of vegetables at the stage of formation of the strings. An insufficient amount of light falls to the plant. For this reason, gentle buds are creepy, and the cucumbers lying on the ground can be amazed by rotting and pests.

It follows from this that the garter of cucumbers in the greenhouse is necessary for the following reasons:

  • It provides access to the best lighting of plants by sunlight, which speeds up the development of the bush and contributes to an increase in the number of uncess.
  • The border helps save the greenhouse area. The vine is allowed to grow up, which allows the use of optimally every centimeter of the site.
  • It is easier to spray from different diseases and insects: there is free access to the cucumber bush from all sides.
  • The amplification of plants will not be brazed with each other, respectively, and the fruits will be able to develop better.
  • The cucumbers on tied shoots are not in contact with the Earth, so they ripen evenly, less subjected to rotting and infection with diseases.
  • Much more convenient to collect harvest.

2
When should I hold a garter?

Take the cucumbers to start somewhere on the 2nd week, when the plant has reached a height of 30-35 centimeters and has 4-6 leaves. Young shoots are easier to be garter than mature plants. In a later date, the operation must be carried out very carefully, so as not to damage the growing fragile stems.

Support supports are recommended even before planting a culture. So that the cucumber bushes did not interfere with each other, all the leaves and inflorescences should be removed on the height of 35 centimeters from the ground. When the side shoots rose to a certain length, they must be tied to the support.

What are the methods of garters?

A properly completed garter predetermines the yield of cucumber bush. There are several basic ways of tapping cucumbers in greenhouses:

  1. Horizontal. It is usually used in low greenhouses. Metallic or concrete column columns with a height of 1.5 m are bought from 2 sides of the site, between them stretch the rope or wire. The lowest horizontal level is installed at an altitude of 25-35 cm from the soil. Each subsequent level is tensioned by 35 cm above the previous one. If the bed length is more than 3 meters, then in the middle install another support and so on, every 3 meters. It is necessary so that the posts can withstand the weight of wire or the twine together with cucumbers. This method is attractive by the fact that there is no need to support each vine separately, since the cucumbers themselves cling to their tenacious mustache for everything that only meets on their way.
  2. Vertical. As a rule, it is used in greenhouses with a height of at least 2 m. With this method of tapping the cucumber vine, the maximum amount of light is obtained, since the height of the greenhouse allows it to stretch up to the entire length. The design for this method consists of a metal or wooden frame. The upper part is attached to the greenhouse ceiling, the second part is located on the ground. Between them stretch the wire or cord. For each stem, one stretch is envisaged, on which it curls up. The cord is not stretching too much, since when hesitated the stem, it can damage it. So that the plants do not flutter the greenhouses and have not shaded each other, they are plugged when they reach the top edge of the support, stopping their further growth.
  3. Mixed. This option provides for a circular landing scheme. In the ground, you bury six - eight reinforcement rods and installed in the form of a cone. They stretch the grid and launch cucumber mustache in her holes. Next, as it grows, the plant will deteriorate the cone, forming a pyramid. The design will be correctly installed before sowing cucumbers, as if you do it later, there is a high probability of damage to young stalks.

What are the materials for garter?

For each method, the appropriate materials are selected. Metal frames are made from reinforcing rods of different diameters. In modern greenhouses, plastic frames are sometimes used.

For horizontal garter Wire or rope, cord.

With the vertical method of tapping Use fabric ribbons with a width of 4-5 cm. They are cut out from those who served sheets or from any used natural tissue and stitched together, manufacturing the desired length to the glorus. Ribbons will not be able to harm the brittle plants, but they are not durable and not very durable. For garter, you can use twine.

You can make trellis from branches. They are harvested in advance, cutting all the side shoots. Thin rods are fixed with wire to the top of the support, and the lower ends are burying into the ground.

The garter of cucumbers is one of the main agrotechnical care measures for this culture. This procedure allows us to facilitate watering, feeding and harvesting.

Timely garter makes it possible to increase the harvest almost 3 times.
