How to connect the electricity meter

There is a huge range of electric stakes, characterized by design and functionality. But the scheme for connecting the instruments of accounting remains the same. Possessing sufficient knowledge in the electrician, you can connect the counter at home yourself. Consider the installation process of a single-phase meter.

We study the connection scheme, which is usually there is a technical description of the instrument. On the block for the clamp of the wires located on the meter housing, marking is applied:

Terminal 1 - phase input;
Terminal 2 - the output of the phase in the apartment;
Terminal 3 - zero input;
Terminal 4 - zero output.

The counter and protective machines are recommended to be installed in special shields made of hardly flammable plastic or metal. First, at a height of 140-170 cm, a shield is fixed with dowels or screws, depending on the material of the wall. Next, the DIN rail is mounted (sometimes it is included in the package) and already there is all the equipment: the device itself, the RCD (protective shutdown device) and the adjustable pads.

Fix the conductor clamping screws according to the previously considered electrical circuit. Last but the input cable is connected, the connection of which in the absence of experience of electrical work is better to trust the specialists. At the end of the installation work, an employee of a controlling energy company is caused, whose duties include verifying the correct connection of the electricity meter and its sealing.

We can conclude: work on the installation of the instrument of accounting can be carried out on their own, but only a person who has the necessary knowledge.
