How to connect iMac to tv

If you are the owner of one of the IMAC, you have a great opportunity to get a lot of pleasure from "widescreen" viewing video or games on the big screen. To do this, it is enough to connect your gadget to the TV. We will tell you how to do with the help of HDMI connections.

1
To connect your iMac to a TV using HDMI, check that the first one has one of the following ports - Mini-DVI, Thunderbolt or Mini-DisplayPort. The TV also requires an appropriate HDMI input (they are practically in almost all modern models). In addition, you will need an adapter (MINI DisplayPort / Thunderbolt in HDMI with audio support) and an HDMI cable (for more convenience it is better to get more authentic).

2
Let's start the process with the fact that you connect one end of the adapter to the video output port (Thunderbolt or Mini-DisplayPort) of your iMac, and its other end is to the HDMI cable. The latter, in turn, connect to the corresponding TV port.

3
Now turn on the iMac and with the help of the remote (in most cases), we switch on the TV video signal to HDMI. The result of manipulations should be the desktop of your gadget on the TV screen. It is possible to get this result, you will have to try a connection with multiple HDMI ports of the TV (there may be up to 6 pieces) until you find the right one.

4
At this stage, you can stay and stop, but for greater comfort, it is better to make a few more TV settings of the TV. For example, if the resolution of your TV screen is less than 1080p, it is better to connect mirroring (Display Mirroring). This can be done after the successful connection of your Mac and TV through the "System Settings". There, select the menu "Monitors", and in it - the middle tab, where and connect mirroring.

5
If the resolution of your TV is high and with the above MAC permission - we recommend to make the TV screen in this tandem leading. To do this, in the same middle tab from clause 4, drag the white string from a smaller screen to more.

6
To display the sound to your TV speakers, in the same "system settings" go to the "sound". In it, select the Output tab and the option with HDMI. Note that in this case you cannot control the volume through Mac - only through the remote or the TV buttons.

For full comfort, we also recommend downloading a good video application that will allow you to get the most from watching a video or game. Here are some such free applications: XBMC, VLC, MPlayerx, Plex.
