How to set up touchpad

All modern laptops are equipped with a touchpad - a special touch panel that allows you to comfortably work for a laptop without using the mouse. Each touchpad needs to be pre-configured, even if you are relatively convenient for it. You can and do not guess that your panel has a multitouch function - control multiple fingers and many other utilities.

1
Touchpad Setup via Control Panel

You should find out the name of your touchpad in advance. This information is contained in the documentation for the laptop or in the device manager. The developer name will need if problems with the drivers on the touchpad begin.

First you need to find your device in the system. It is done quite quickly and simple. Click on the "Start" menu of the computer, and then go to the "Control Panel".

Sorting is better to immediately put "small badges", as you will be easier to find the necessary sections.

At the moment you need a section "Mouse". Find it on the screen and click once with a mouse or touchpad.

After a few seconds, a window will appear on the screen with the properties and settings of the mouse and touchpad. All this is contained in the same section and is only generalized called "Mouse". Go to the "Equipment" tab. To make it easier for you to distinguish where the USB mouse is located, and where is the touchpad, it is better to remove the mouse from the USB port for a while.

As a rule, the touchpad is called "PS / 2 compatible mouse".

Double click on the touchpad device to enter it in its settings. Here you have access to update drivers in a special tab. You need to update the drivers as they are released so that the device worked properly.

Return back and select "Parameters". It is here that the main setting takes place. You can adjust the parameters of the touchpad under your wishes: scroll speed, its smoothness, the possibility of double clicking, scaling and much more.

Go to each section and try editing the parameter. If you have become more convenient, then leave so. You should not go only to the "Application Gestures" section, since the inexperienced user can get confused and spoil the setting of this parameter.

As soon as you finish, save the changes and exit.

If the device has not been determined

Separately, it is worth saying what you need to do if the touchpad device has not been determined. Most likely, there are no drivers on your laptop for him, so the system does not know how to determine this device. In this case, you need to go back to the control panel and select the Device Manager section.

Next, just find the section "Mouse and Other Indicating Devices". It should contain a string "PS / 2 mouse", which is a touchpad.

Click on it right-click and click on the "Update Drivers" section.

Follow the search for drivers on the Internet. Note that you can find the most suitable drivers only on the official website of the touchpad manufacturer. Just enter his name to the browser search string, go to the official website and find the drivers section. They are very fast and simply installed.

After installing the drivers, you need to restart the laptop.
