How to set up a joystick

To make the game on a personal computer even more interesting and brighter, many users prefer to use joysticks. So you do not have to buy game consoles to try new types of games. Connecting the gamepad to the computer is quite simple, but this case has its pitfalls. Try all the ways from this article if you have problems.

Quick connection of the joystick to a computer

If everything goes smoothly, then your participation is practically not required, because in the joysticks there are already drivers for the device by default, they are independently installed on the computer during the first connection.

• Carefully look at which connector is better to insert the joystick - USB 2.0 or USB 3.0. The last option is faster, but useless if the joystick is suitable for version 2.0;
• Insert it into the computer and wait until the system reacts;
• In the lower right corner, a sign “The installation of the device drivers” should appear. This can take several minutes;
• As soon as the installation is over, you can use the joystick.

Calibration of the joystick

When the system determined the device and installed all the drivers, it's time to start the joystick, if it reacts to the axis offset.

• Go to my computer and click on the gamepad with the right mouse button. In the menu that appears, select the “calibration” or “calibration” line.
• A window will appear immediately in which you have to choose your joystick. Click “OK”.
• You will see a small scheme with a cross. You need to press the sacrum on the joystick until the symbol on the screen shifts to the center.

Now you can check the working capacity of the joystick in a special tab.

Installation of drivers for a joystick manually

If you inserted a gamepad into the computer, but the system has not found the device, you will have to put the drivers yourself.

• The first installation method is to manually search for the driver in the Internet search engine. Know the name of your joystick in the search line and look for the drivers for it yourself;
• But there is another way in which the system itself will look for drivers for you.

Go to the control panel through the computer start menu. Put sorting sections by categories in the upper right corner.
Find the section “Equipment and sound”, go into it.

Now enter the device manager. Please note that only a computer administrator can enter this subsection. If you went from the guest account, you need to enter the main one.

Now find the joystick in the device manager. It can be in USB controllers.

Click on the joystick with the right mouse button and select the “Update Drivers” section.

The search for the necessary additions will begin immediately. As soon as the drivers are found, the system will install them. Reload the computer for their correct operation. Now you can complete the gamepad.

If calibration does not work

It may also be that the drivers are on the device, the gamepad works, but the game does not establish the calibration and conformity of the keys.

Then you need to set the gamepad keys manually. Just find the control section in the game and instead of keys on the keyboard, put the gamepad keys. Select one at a time for each action.

This is not the most convenient way, but it will allow you to use the joystick in the game. Some games are not at all intended for playing with a gamepad. It is best to install an emulator of any game console on your computer and play inside it. So you will provide yourself with a stable work of the joystick.
