How to mount the MDF panels

How to mount the MDF panels

MDF panels - popular material that is successfully used for the interior decoration of any premises. The production technology of panels eliminates the use of harmful chemicals in the process, which makes the material is environmentally friendly. In addition, such a skin is indistinguishable visually from natural wood. Consider in detail the installation procedure of the panels.

1
Features MDF.

MDF is the material for the manufacture of which woodworking is used. However, do not confuse panels with DVP or chipboard, since MDF is stronger and produced from wood without the use of the chemical binder. The role of glue is lignin, which is present in the wood and is distinguished by the effects of high temperature. According to the structure of the MDF, felt reminds felt, only consists not of woolen, but from wood fibers. For fastening the MDF, any adhesive compositions and "liquid nails" are used, which are suitable for the color gamut of the material.

MDF panels are characterized by such advantages:

  1. Installation of panels does not represent anything complicated, in addition, a lot of dust is never formed. They can be fixed in a perpendicular or parallel direction.
  2. In the process of fastening the MDF, additional insulation of the room can be achieved, since the thermal insulation properties of the material are good enough.
  3. Repair of the damaged panel is performed very quickly - it is enough just to remove it and replace it with a new one.
  4. To care for the trim, only a sponge and warm water will be needed.
  5. The surface of the panels is able to successfully repeat any texture - from natural stone to a natural tree.
  6. Due to the variety of panel colors are appropriate in any interior.
  7. Finishing, made MDF panels, will serve you for a long time.

However, despite numerous advantages, the material is not deprived of the shortcomings:

  • Panels are not resistant to a wet environment, deformed at the same time. However, there are special chickens for the kitchen and bathroom.
  • Small strength and resistance to mechanical loads. Therefore, the material needs gentle care, although during damage the repair is reduced to the usual replacement of the panel.
  • Low fire resistance. The wiring that will be paved under the skin must be placed in protective fire-resistant boxes.
  • Since the panels are fastened with the frame, the walls are obtained by hollow, and to attach any item to such a surface, you will have to use a dowel-nails that have a large length.

Preparatory work

For montaja panels prepare instruments: roulette and pencilfor marking location fastening fittings; level and cornerfor checks lines and corners; electrolovik (can replace manual saw disk type) – for togo to cut material; drill, nazadka to her, needless at wrapping self-timers; selfless for montaja fittings; stapler or nailsfor fastening panels; screwdriver.

Preparation for the installation of panels involves conducting such events:

  1. Before finishing the walls, you should remove the old coating, be it wallpaper, paint or plaster.
  2. There is no need to achieve their ideal alignment.
  3. All plinths are removed - outdoor and ceiling.
  4. The surface, regardless of the manufacturing material - brick, wood, concrete, is processed by primer 2 times in order to prevent the reproduction of fungi and mold.
  5. In order to increase the thermal insulation of the walls, it is customary to cover them with a heater, the thickness of which is 0.5 cm. As a rule, a foil foam foam is used for insulation, which also solves the task of hydro and vaporizolation. It is glued with jack, the foil should be inside.

3
Frame under the MDF panel

MDF panels can be attached to a wooden crate or metal profile. Consider the more detailed process of creating a frame in each case.

Wooden cut

Features of the installation of wood bars:

  • For the manufacture of the crates, wooden bars are used, pre-treated with impregnation in order to protect against mold and rotting, the size of which must correspond to the height of the room.
  • When carrying out additional insulation of the room, the thickness of the bars should be a similar thickness of the thermal insulation material.
  • If there is a large humidity and dampness in the room, as well as in the presence of brick walls, it is worth abandoning from a wooden crate.
  • Use only well dried wood, since otherwise the trim may be deformed.
  • Install the crate in the direction perpendicular to the installation of MDF panels, departing from the floor 3-5 cm, from the ceiling - 2-3 cm.
  • First you need to install vertical bars in the corners and on the edges of the door and window openings. The correct position should be monitored by a plumb.
  • When attaching the planks withstand a step that is 500-700 millimeters, the step between horizontal bars should reach 600-700 mm.
  • For fastening the crates, a dowel-nail or self-tapping screws are used, which have a diameter of 4 or 6 mm, as well as plastic sockets.

Metal cut

UD (racks) and CD (horizontal elements) are used for the frame (horizontal elements) with special fasteners, which are suspensions and connectors. The shap of the crates is the same as for wooden bars. CD profile is inserted into UD and moves to installation location. Self-tapping screws are used to mount profile to the wall and among themselves. For cutting of metal products apply a disk saw. The fasteners will be needed in the case of mounting the crate on the ceiling, or if you make it only from the CD profile.

Installation of MDF panels

The panel mounting procedure comes down to the following:

  1. The panels are connected by a tongue lock represented by the ridge and a groove. For fastening to the crate, small carnations are used, which need to be clogged, finishing them with a brisk and hammer. To secure the panels to the metal profile, use special metal brackets - kleimers. They are fixed in the groove of the panel and are attached with self-drawing.
  2. When installing in the vertical position of the panel, they begin to mount from the corner, heading on the left side.
  3. The first panel attach to the corner in the corner with nails or screws, choosing fasteners depending on the type of crate, cutting a pre-comb. From the side of the groove fixes nails or cleimers.
  4. Fix the crest of the next panel in the groove first. When installing other panels, act in the same way - insert the comb in the groove.
  5. The last panel is pre-length, with 2-5 mm grab, comb cuts half. It is inserted into the groove of the previous house, and then fixed in the circumcised form from the side of the free edge using the screws.
  6. For decoration of slopes, pieces of panels are used, which are attached along and across. With narrow slopes - fasten only across, with wide - at the discretion of the owner.
  7. Special MDF Corners are used to close the corners, under which the self-mains retaining the extreme panels will be hooked. They need to trim into the size, rounding the corners and shrinking cuts. They are mounted with glue for wood or liquid nails. Installation of MDF corners on the edges of the panels located near the windows and doors, is similar.

If desired, the ceiling can also be seen by MDF panels, having them perpendicular to the wall on which the window has. The principle of creating a finish is the same as when fastening the material on the walls, but without an assistant here, in contrast to the first case, do not do.
