How to restore the browser history

How to restore the browser history

Due to the accident, breakdown or other manipulations with the computer programs, the browser history can be cleaned or simply will disappear. Below we consider simple and affordable ways to help it return.

1
Where to find a browser story?

Like any other data processed by the computer, the history of the browser is stored in a certain place of the hard disk (temporarily or for a long time). Consequently, knowing this location, it can be removed and see. For each browser, the path of saving history will be different. For example, for Google Chrome, this \\ AppData \\ Local \\ Google \\ Chrome \\ User Data \\ Default, for IE - \\ AppData \\ Local \\ Microsoft \\ Windows \\ History. Such data will be useful in the case when you use a special reducing software. After the program "Return", all files found in these directories are followed (including hidden). For recovery Try using Recuva, Recover My Files, FinalData Standard, Ontrack EasyRecovery or any others trust more.

2
How to return the story of the browser partially

If the story was cleared intentionally, the only real opportunity to see which sites were visited - it is to open cookies (if they have not been removed). Cookies are small "notes" of a browser about visited sites that are saved on the computer and the next time you have to help upload the page faster. There are no personal information in them, all data concern only the characteristics of the site itself and its structure. To open cookies (for example, in Google Chrome), go to the "Settings" menu -\u003e "Advanced" -\u003e "Content Settings" -\u003e "All Cookies". Perhaps the information you want to find here.

What methods work, and which are not when restoring the browser history?

Since there is a lot of outdated information in the worldwide network, it is briefly listed by ways that will not work (therefore, it is not worth spending time, resources and efforts on them), as well as those that are still relevant:

  • Rollback to the previous recovery point, unfortunately, will not return the story of the browser. Using this method, you only delete the useful changes that occurred in the system.
  • Search and discovery index.dat: Modern browsers no longer use this file to fix the history of sitting sites. Even on the old versions of the browsers from this file, you will not receive use if the story has been removed by the corresponding menu item.
  • If your router model has such a function, the history of visits can be viewed in the admin panel at 191.168.1.1, in the "Administration" section -\u003e "Log". Here you can enable or disable such a function.
  • If the computer has not rebooted, "traces" of some records still remained in the DNS cache. You can see them by entering the IPConfig / DisplayDNS command to the console. The result will be similar to what you see in the picture.

Just in case, it should be borne in mind that the history of your visits can be kept by the provider. However, requested and check it only on a special court order.
