How to connect linoleum

Linoleum is one of the most popular floor finish materials. He is unpretentious, practical and resistant to damage. Linoleum laying is an easy, and everyone can cope with him. However, here, as in any other finishing process, there are subtleties and secrets whose knowledge will greatly facilitate work and will save some of your time. Special attention should be paid to connecting his joints. It is from the correct connection that the service life of the floor covering and the quality of its laying as a whole depends largely.

1
Since the linoleum is sufficiently rigid and coarse material, the use of conventional adhesive for its laying and connecting the joints is not suitable. That is why for fixing it on the floor, use a special adhesive composition, for example, homakoll or forbo, and for connecting the joints - the method of hot or cold welding, depending on the type of purchased linoleum.

2
If you plan to store the floor with a thick dense web, then use hot welding. If we draw the floor using a soft supple canvas - this method is contraindicated, if you resort to it - then the linoleum is simply melted and will be completely spoiled. In such cases, cold welding will be the optimal method of connecting parts of the floor covering with each other. In any case, before proceeding with the linoleum connection, it should be put on the floor and cut extra pieces.

3
For hot welding joints, you will need a set of special tools and cord from PVC. Before starting work, worry the whole linoleum thoroughly, pay special attention to its edges. After that, with the help of a knife or a special cutter, make a cut on the edge, assumed to the connection. The width of the cut must be several millimeters, and its depth should not exceed 2/3 of the thickness of the canvas. Remove all pollution from the resulting slice. Insert the cord into a special welding machine connected to the network. After it warming up to 350-400 degrees, proceed to welding. For this, quickly press the tip of the welding gun in the groove and slowly spend them along the entire length of the connecting joint. The melted cord fill the entire cavity, turning two separate leaf of linoleum into a single monolithic integer. Without waiting until the cord cools, remove its surplus with a knife. Finally cooled place the connection thoroughly colry.

4
The main advantage of cold-welding of linoleum is that the seam between the two sheets becomes completely imperceptible. In addition, in this way you can close curly seams. Welding is performed using special adhesives, for example, FORBO 671. Such glue cannot be used to glue the entire sheet to the floor or for dusting of multilayer materials. Today there are three types of glue used for cold welding of seams. Glue type "A" has a liquid consistency and is used to connect new, newly laid cave. The glue "C" is used during work on the repair of the old flooring and can be used to connect a thickness of up to 4 millimeters. The type "T" applies in cases of dusting of linoleum from PVC, the basis of which is made of polyester. To prevent glue from entering the front side of the linoleum edge of the glued surfaces, push the painting ribbon. Outdoor coating to put the flashes and glue with a tape. After that, in the processed area, make a small cross-cutting section. With the help of a gun, pour the glue into the cut. After 10 minutes, it can be removed, and another 20 - you can start moving around the canvase.

5
Also connect the linoleum sheets with each other with the help of special plastic, rubber or metal thresholds. Most often, this method is used to connect the floor covering at the boundaries of the premises. Linoleum sheets can be laid both closely and with a small distance from each other. The bar is fastened with a flat hat with a flat hat and completely covers the place of docking. For greater reliability of the edge of the linoleum can be additionally interconnected by a special scotch.

Now, knowing all methods of connecting linoleum sheets among themselves, you can choose the right way to install, based on the type of floor covering and your financial well-being.
