How to copy hard drive

Often, when using a computer, it is necessary to transfer all the data from the hard drive to a new hard drive. This operation is to be used when there is not enough space on the hard disk or you wish to save all the data from your computer before repaired or selling it. First of all, you must purchase a new hard drive of a greater container to be sure that you can clone the system on it.

1
If there is no special compartment on the computer to set there another hard drive, for a while you can mount it instead of a drive for CDs or use the USB 2.0 port for an external target disk. In other cases, you will have to clone a hard disk by creating an image and restoring it to a new hard disk that has a larger partition.

2
To transfer data from the hard drive to a new hard disk is conveniently using the Acronis True Image program, which is rightfully considered one of the most powerful tools for cloning hard drives or sections. She cacoped all the data, including operating systems and applications that will be instantly restored and will be able to work safely on another computer in Windows, even without rebooting.

3
By installing Acronis True Image on a computer, in the main menu you need to go to the "Tools and Utilities" section and in the new window open the tab and click "Clone Disk". Next, you can select automatic or manual data transfer mode to a new disk.

1. Instruments-and-utilities

4
With an automatic method, all data from the disk will be transferred to a new hard disk, and it will become bootable provided that the source disk was also bootable. Manual mode is applied if you need to make changes to the partition structure. The program will independently determine which of the disks is the original, and what is the target. If multiple disks are detected, you must specify which disk to be cloned. By selecting the source disk, you should click the "Next" button and specify the disk to which all data will be transferred, and the source disk will be displayed with a brighter and will be inaccessible to select. Pressing the "Next" button starts checking the target disk, its partitions to make sure it is free to transfer data. You must click "OK" to delete partitions, and the program will prepare for cloning, the main changes will come if you press the "Bring" button. In the case when there are no discs on the disk, then the program immediately identifies it as a target, and this step will automatically be missed.

5
The final cloning window will show the disk structure, if everything suits you, you must click the "Get down" button, after which the computer reboot will appear. After the cloning is completed, the computer can be turned off by pressing any button in order to change the Slave / Master switches, one of the hard drives can be removed. If the disc does not contain an operating system or it is not loaded at the moment of cloning, the process occurs without rebooting.

It is worth remembering that before cloning a hard disk, it is worth checking it with special means to identify and eliminate errors. If you perform all simple instructions, an exact copy of the source disk will be saved on the new hard disk, and it can be used instead of the old or use as an additional medium.

Yes, after cloning the system to a new hard disk, you can run the system already from a new hard disk on the same component. But only on it!
Installing a clone on a new motherboard or another computer will require additional manipulations of pre-training clone. But that is another topic
