How to overclock a video card on a laptop

Many laptop owners would like to increase their performance. To do this, you can buy a new device, replace an existing video card or processor. All these actions require time and material costs. A simpler way to improve performance can be an acceleration of the video card - increasing the frequency of work. Consider overclocking on the example of discrete video cards NVIDIA and ATI.

1
For overclocking, you will need MSI Kombustor utilities, Furmark or MSI Afterburner. You need to download them and install on a laptop. These utilities are free and are suitable for almost all video card models, including NVIDIA GeForce.

2
Run first "MSI Afterburner". We find in the utility section "Setup" and go to it.

3
For convenience of working with the program, change the language - click on "Settings" and go to the "User Interface" tab. There we find "Russian language" and ask him.

4
On the NVIDIA frequency of shaders, the kernel itself is different and connected through the multiplier. If necessary, they can be set separately by turning off the binding. To do this, click on the button.

5
On the main window, you can see several sliders with which you can adjust the frequencies of video memory and video chip. We increase them by 15-20 MHz and click on the "Apply" icon.

6
To check the ability of the video card at a given frequency, run the MSI Kombustor or FurMark utility. In the settings, set the Russian language again and click on the "Run!" Button For load testing.

7
The "hairy bubble" appears on the screen and the temperature schedule will appear. If the temperature mode exceeds 100 ° C, you need to stop testing. If the temperature is normal and no artifacts appear on the screen, the test process stops the "ESC" key. After that, you can return to MSI Afterburner and further increase frequencies.

We repeat this procedure until artifacts appear on the window with the "bagenik". Their presence indicates that frequencies should be reduced.
