How to switch the video card on a laptop

In order to save the laptop energy, which plays a big role, unlike a stationary computer, they are equipped with two video adapters - discrete and integrated. In most laptops, the default is an integrated video adapter, and therefore the question often arises: "How to switch the video card on a laptop?".

1
The laptop works with the Intel processor. Use the Internet services and find the Catalyst Control Center. Download and set the utility to switch the graphic adapter. The installation itself will take a few minutes, just follow the instructions. To use the automatic switching function, go to the manufacturer's website. Find the special drivers for your laptop in the presented list. Open the BIOS (to find out the key that is responsible for the transition, restart or turn on the laptop, where information about hot keys will appear on the monitor for some time). Locate the "Display Mode" menu and set the "Switchable" value.

2
The laptop on the AMD processor and is equipped with an ATI / AMD video card (discrete). As in the previous case, put the drivers into two video cards and the Catalyst Control Center utility to change the graphics adapter. Switching if necessary for more powerful, and back occurs by default, but will depend on whether the laptop is connected to the network and which program is installed. If the program does not always work correctly, it is better to use manual switching. Click on the tray icon, or open the Catalyst Control Center program, which is pretty quick and convenient.

The laptop on the Intel processor and is equipped with a discrete video card from NVIDIA. To properly use such a bundle, install the drivers on both maps from the manufacturer. To switch, open the NVIDIA Control panel, locate the menu called "3D parameters" -\u003e "Manage 3D parameters". For ease of use, specify a specific video card selection mode for each individual program.

If you are working with Windows XP, then all of the above methods do not act here. To select an external video card, go to the BIOS and independently turn off the integrated schedule. It is enough to put the "Discrete" mode in the "Display Mode" menu.

Increasingly, laptops meet two video adapters, but since they do not work together, you need to know all possible options for switching.
