Laptop: Disable battery or not?

Laptop: Disable battery or not?

Laptops are increasingly popular thanks to their mobility and compactness. Their ability to work without a network is the main plus device. Thanks to the battery, the laptop can be used everywhere, but there is one minus - this is a limited charge time. For most users, this is a very important point, and therefore the question arises: how to make the battery for more than one year and how long did the charge kept?

1
Many laptop owners are interested in whether to disconnect the battery when working from the network. It depends on its type. In modern devices for batteries, there is no such concept as "battery memory". The main thing is to not be fully discharge and not to leave for a long time in a discharged. A new battery must be 3-5 times "dispersed" (that is, completely discharge and charge).

2
Do not turn off the battery when working from the network, as modern batteries work as "uninterruptible power sources". In the case of jumps or turning off the electricity, the voltage stabilizes due to the battery.

3
When the battery is in a laptop, you can start working at any time without connecting to the network, and in cases where it simply lay for a long time, you first need to be recharged, and then use it.

4
In most batteries inside there is a microcircuit, which, together with the controller (located in a laptop), defines the discharge threshold and starts charging. Therefore, if it is charged, the charge current does not come to it. Once the battery is discharged to a certain level - charging automatically turns on.

5
All of the above is typical for lithium-ion batteries that are in the configuration of more modern laptops. However, the batteries that are in devices released several years ago have a memory effect. This ability to memorize the amount of energy that was spent during the discharge time. And in the future, if the battery is constantly not completely discharged, then without the web it will keep the charge exactly as much as it constantly accumulated it. This is characteristic of nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries. They are recommended to extract from a laptop, and if not to do this, then at least disconnect from the network and work almost until complete discharge and only then turn on.

The battery life depends on many parameters - type, container, working conditions. Modern new batteries are able to keep charge for three hours, they should not be removed when operating from the network, since they have a built-in special microcircuit that can independently monitor the current flow. Earlier laptops are equipped with batteries that need to be extracted or controlled by a special scheme.
