How to return the tax for building a house

If you started the construction or acquired an unfinished house, the legislation acting today allows you to return an income tax in the amount of 13%. This so-called property tax deduction. The service is one-time and can be issued only after official registration of ownership. Consider the order and conditions for this deduction.

To make a tax deduction, the cost of your home should not exceed 2 million rubles. You must have Russian citizenship, constant income from which the budget tax is expelled. If you used the target mortgage, it should be used for its intended purpose, and interest on it is paid.

Also in the package of documents, include a certificate of ownership of the house, sale and purchase agreement, your passport, as well as a 2-NDFL certificate or other types of income.

If you are going to return part of the funds on a mortgage loan, then you will need to add another relevant contract, as well as a certificate from the bank about the interest paid on it and their repayment schedule.

Fill in the Declaration for the reporting year according to the approved form (3-NDFL), specifying all your income and expenses in it that will be the basis for the tax deduction.

With this package of documents and a statement on the return of income tax appeal to the tax inspectorate at the place of residence. In the application, be sure to indicate which current account should be refunded.

If you want to return the funds entirely, your application will be reviewed for 3 months, and the payment itself can delay and longer. If you are satisfied with the return tax in parts, then you can get the corresponding notice after a month after applying.

Given that it is possible to return taxes paid during the construction of the house only for three years since their payment, it is better not to delay this procedure.
