How to find out the laptop model

Sometimes there is a need to find out the exact name of the model of your laptop. The reason for this can be the sale of a laptop and establishing its market value, search for drivers after reinstalling the OS, the need to replace the resulting technical assembly or a separate component. And if the manufacturer's name is almost always indicated by large letters on the surface of the laptop, then it is sometimes harder to find the exact name of its model.

The easiest thing is, of course, if the model of the laptop is also written anywhere on its surface.

If there are no inscriptions, then for this purpose you can use, for example, Windows software. Open the command prompt ("Start" menu - "CMD" in the search string - "ENTER" or "Start" menu - "Run" - "CMD") and type the "WMIC CSProduct Get Name" command in it (without brackets). After executing this command, the "Enter" key you will see the name of the model of your laptop.

But sometimes this information is not enough. For example, to replace one or another notebook, you need to know the exact name of the model according to the manufacturer's catalog (Model Name / Number, which clarifies the marketing name of the laptop model) or its specific modification (Part Number or P / N). Search for this information follows special stickers with full technical information about the product. They can be on the bottom of the laptop, from its back side, under the back cover or battery. There is also a unique serial number (Serial Number or S / N) laptop.

If over time, these inscriptions have become unreadable or the sticker is simply behind and lost, then the relevant information about the laptop can be found on the box in which it has been supplied if it has been preserved.

Also, the name of the model, the serial number and, possibly, its modifications will be defined in the commodity check and the warranty coupon if the laptop was bought at the certified seller.
