How to install Linux

Linux is a generalized name for operating systems that are distributed free of charge and for this reason are the main competitor for Windows. Moreover, almost any user can take part in creating subsequent versions, not even possessing programming skills. The widely used Android OS is also built on the basis of * NIX.

To install Linux on a home or working PC, first need to decide which system we go to get. The simplest on the use of the line is Debian and Ubuntu. The latter seems to us much more comfortable, and we will install it. Dabian in turn is used for both home computers and servers, as well as the "ancestor" Ubuntu.

The appearance of the Ubuntu operating system is associated with a certain system of philosophy. The name of the OS translated from the Zulu language means "humanity", which hints at the appropriate relationship between the user and the software. In addition, the system is notable for increased security, in connection with the ability to administer without launching the superuser session. Its system requirements are extremely small, programs are free and free, and the interface is distinguished by ultimate understanding.

Until 2011, Ubuntu could be obtained for free, by mail. Now the distribution is easy to download from an official Russian or English-language site. The CD disc is enough for the base unit. DVD contains a package of popular programs that is convenient to use without connecting to the Internet.

We will proceed to install Ubuntu Linux on a computer with already pre-installed Windows. If there is no operating system on the PC - the sequence of actions will be about the same. Important (but not required) Requirement - availability of Internet connection. To install, we will also need a boot CD or DVD, create which from the downloaded ICO file will help the Daemon Tools, Acohol, Nero or CdBurnerXP programs. In Windows Vista and above - by built-in features (see the picture):

Reboot your computer. If before that in the BIOS was not selected download from the CD, follow the prompts on the screen at the time of power on. We need a hot key to enter BootMenu (usually ESC, F12 or F8)

Loading from the disk, we will see the Ubuntu welcome screen. Select the "Set" item by moving around the list of arrows and confirming the "Enter" selection.

Choose the language that there are a huge set. Click "Forward". Next, we have to specify the time zone, just clicking on the map, and set the keyboard layout (by default "Russian").

The next step is to create a partition for installing Linux. If you do not have any special requirements here, just choose "Set manually" sections "and go to the next setting screen.

Next, we assume that Windows already installed on the PC, the entire disk is marked for it and it is necessary to "bite off" from it under a new OC. We highlight the section, click "Edit", enter the number of megabytes, confirm the changes.

Similarly, from the appeared place, we create two partitions - the podaching (the volume is equal to the RAM) and the root (minimum 4 GB). The final markup should look something like this:

In the next window, enter the login and password used to enter. Press forward.

If everything is done correctly, we came to the final and see the result of all previous installations. Check them again and click "install". When the process is completed, the computer will restart, and you can log in to Ubuntu Linux to use or configure OS.

Installation

As we saw, install Linux is not at all difficult. If there are some difficulties in the process, try to put the OS from a flash drive or use the Wubi installer that sets Linux directly from Windows.
