After all, even an avid fan of electronics may not be at hand of the capacitor with the right face value, especially when you need to urgently repair a household appliance. From the current problem, it is easy to exit, connecting several capacitors sequentially or parallel.

If two capacitors with equal capacities are sequentially connected, then the result is a total capacity with a smaller value 2 times, and the voltage increases. In real cases, the scheme with a serial compound is rare, mainly in high-voltage power sources.

For low-voltage power supplies, a parallel compound is used, as the pulsation is smoothed. The total container of the connected parallel capacitors will be folded, and the voltage is equal to the value of the voltage of that condenser, which has a smaller parameter. For example, there are three capacitors of 30 microfarads with a voltage of 100 V and are connected in parallel. The value of the entire set will be calculated: 90 μF * 100.

There is a combined connection method - sequential-parallel, which is extremely rare. To calculate the total capacity, the circuit is divided into several sections and calculate each separately.

To connect electrolytic capacitors, the polarity should be taken into account. With a parallel method, the minor output of one condenser must be connected to the minus output of the other. With a consistent - minus with a plus output.

When connecting capacitors, the value of the nominal voltage should be taken into account. If one of the capacitors will be with a smaller nominal voltage, then, most likely, the device will fail in the near future.

Connect capacitors only when they are completely disconnected from other elements of the circuit. Connection is carried out insulated wires. After any connection and disconnect, check the operation using a voltmeter.
For a composite condenser, try to take the same type capacitors, and if possible, then from one batch. Capacitors are ceramic, film, metal cleaner, saliva.
