The Ukrainian capital is the Great City. The epochs and rulers replaced each other, and Kiev stood in place, while maintaining a part of the heritage of each century. Not any state boasts such a collection of attractions, which one owns this megapolis. Conduct the weekend here - it means to plunge into the world of rich culture and feel the very heart of the country.

Early in the morning when the subway only opens, we go on the Dnieper embankment. From here you can see the other coast, Kiev hills, the tops of the cathedrals, bridges and, of course, the largest, most powerful river of Ukraine. The picturesque panorama is worth a lot, and certainly not a pity for her a couple of hours of sleep.

The symbol of the city is Independence Square and located in its center of the monument. At an altitude of 62 meters there is a girl in the national dress and a vanity branch in hand.

The most important religious object of the capital and the whole country is Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Her story has almost a millennium. On the territory of the Lavra there are several churches in different architectural styles, as well as famous caves. In the dungeon to this day, the nettical power of the saints remained, among which the remains of the famous hero of Ilya Muromets.

The golden gate near the metro station of the same name is a reconstructed defensive structure, erected in the 11th century in Kievan Rus. Near the gate is the statue of Prince Yaroslav Wise.

The opera house of the capital belongs to the luxurious theater buildings of the world. It is decorated in the style of French Renaissance, on the facade there are masks, sculptures of music and griffins.

The house with chimeras looks impressively. According to the project of the first owner, the house is decorated with a large number of sculptures reflecting the passion of the owner to the hunt.

Sophia Cathedral is another religious building of Kiev. He was conceived as the main temple of all Russia, therefore it is distinguished by lush decoration. Inside, the frescoes and mosaic of the 11th century are perfectly preserved, and among the local burials you can see the sarcophagus Yaroslav Wise. A peculiar observation tower serves the bell tower of Sofia Kievskaya, from where the capital panorama opens.

On the square in front of the Sophia Cathedral, the monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky. The Great Getman sends on horseback and points to the mace towards the Russian state, the then ally of Ukraine.

No less majestic Monument to Vladimir. This prince became famous for turning the Kievan Russia from the pagan state to the Orthodox, thereby bringing the people science, urban planning and fundamentally new culture.

The Mariinsky Palace, preserved from the mid-18th century, appears before tourists in his original appearance: Turquoise walls with snow-white stucco are surrounded by a cozy fleet with a lot of sculptures. Today, government techniques are held in the palace.

In addition, Kiev is rich in museums. Here you can find classic museums (artistic, historical, aviation, architectural) and not very (museums of one street, water, metro, toys, toilet history and many other, no less than original exhibitions). One of the most popular is the Museum of M. Bulgakov, located on the Andreev descent. In this house, a writer lived for some time, now the interior of the beginning of the 20th century was recreated here and Bulgakov's personal belongings are collected.

If the exhibits of the past are not too interested, look at PinchukArtCentre - Center for Contemporary Art. The art center occupies six floors, and every day the embodiment of the creative thought of the 21st century will be presented. Exhibitions are free, and the best authors receive special awards and go to foreign internships.
After a busy tourist day and just between the excursions of the travelers, Kiev cafes and entertainment establishments will be welcome. As in any megalopolis, life is boiling here, the whirlwind of events fascinates, and will certainly need not one weekend to enjoy Kiev to fully.
