The main attraction of the former capital of Ethiopia is the Fasil Goebby Fortress. She was erected in the middle of the 17th century. The beginning of the 18th century was marked here by a strong earthquake, as a result of which this powerful structure was partially destroyed. Then the fortress was restored, but at the end of the 19th century she again suffered during the fighting on her seizing Mahadists from Sudan. The greatest damage was made by Fasil-Hebbi even later by English bomber aircraft during the war with Hitler's Germany. At that time, the headquartening forces of fascist Italy was located in the fortress. After the next recovery of the citadel, she again opened for visits.
